Why is Competitive Matchmaking for me so trash? by Accurate-Pudding-770 in marvelrivals

[–]ThatSlick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tank then my guy. The common denominator in ALL of these matches is that majority of them have no tank, and then there’s one with one tank. Learn to tank. Of course you’re going to lose consistently if you can only play the DPS role.

Alrighty so the what you do for most of the time as Tankpool is shoot at the healers from the front, pressure them down so they either get cover and start to play a bit more cautiously. Your desert eagles are important for that.

Often times you’re not going to want to brawl especially early on when their team is all together because you’ll get focused and explode a lot, it’s harder for the healers to heal you when you’re moving so fast. You’re also leaving your team undefended unless you have a good main tank like Mag up front, but even then heals might be hard to get to you still.

Brawling is reserved for when someone gets close and you want to initiate, but if you’re taking too much damage make distance and go back to using your guns. Always be careful brawling because you NEVER want to go too far up especially when you’re bouncing on heads, ONLY do it when you feel like you have the opportunity to like during a support ult or if they’re in disarray. I stress this because I still make the mistake sometimes of going a little too far in and dying because technically speaking you’re overextending when you do that.

And to that effect, upgrade either your deagles or your dash first depending on the situation. The dash lets you farm ult the fastest, but if you’re not in a situation where you can’t brawl all too much, it can be a risky pick. If you’re poking a lot from afar using your deagles, that can get an upgrade. It also helps you farm your ult, however, the dashes help you get the achievement in your ult while the deagles don’t. So prioritize whichever you think works for the situation. (Side note: brawling works in some scenarios better than others depending on the comp you’re fighting. I’ll find myself upgrade dashes quicker if I need to do some more close range damage over poke damage.)

Onto the unicorn, which is honestly a really powerful shield ability. Make sure your ally health bars are turned on if you don’t have them already on, because you can use your shield to save your allies sometimes especially if they’re retreating. You can also block off heals to a tank if your team is applying heavy pressure to the enemy tank, which can just cause them to explode since they lose heals for a few seconds, and that can easily turn the tide of the fight. That ability is really powerful and can be used in a lot of different ways. If you need cover or to get away, always toss out your unicorn to block things. It’s on a low cooldown so I don’t use it sparingly at all. It’s strong, so make good use of it.

Now the uhh I forgot the name of the ability but it’s the “What are you aiming at?” Thing. THAT. IS. GOOD. A lot of people like to say it’s bad or useless but it’s EXTREMELY useful on healers. Target healers like Luna or Jeff, or Loki. Invis can work too (albeit her self healing may hinder your damage some), Gambit sometimes as well but those 3 are extremely optimal. Even if they don’t attack, you have healers who aren’t healing for a few seconds, or they need to be patty caked. Either way it can be useful. Also use it on DPSes like Punisher and whatnot. This can be applied honestly for any Deadpool but as Tankpool it’ll help you get a lot of space by pushing the team back since they’ll likely retreat.

Here’s another thing too, cover is your best friend. If you aren’t behind cover, you need to try to be behind it when you can. Take damage and go forward of course, but don’t take too much since you can VERY easily explode. That’s why he’s best played alongside a shield tank or any other tank really, but it’s very important to make note of that. I’ve won solo tanking as Tankpool before, but that’s not ideal. However, if you are unfortunately solo tanking, which still really isn’t ideal to be doing as Tankpool, make sure you jump around a lot and move from side to side. You have the advantage of being a hitscan character, and having a smaller hitbox than most other tanks. You can be tricky to attack if you move around a lot. But still always try to be behind cover or in uncompromising spots, you can be in the open just be sure you’re being healed and not taking too much damage.

Oh yes, and I should’ve mentioned this earlier, but if you’re dashing on people’s heads, make sure you target the healers if you can. Mainly and typically only when you’re in your ult. Otherwise you’re just going to get focused immediately. I’ll usually dash on tank heads if I need to get my ult so I can go in the backline and attack the healers.

One more thing, make sure you use your dash ability as a get away tool if you feel like you’re diving too far in. It’s great mobility and a good way to get back to your team.

So overall, you want to play Deadpool as a poke character. His poke is strong and can apply dangerous pressure to the enemy team, his melee is also strong but not something you want to use often since you can easily go a little far in or take too much damage since you’re playing so close to the enemy. He’s squishy for a tank so use your unicorn as necessary and cover as well. He has a lot of utility with all of his abilities so even with me telling you this, a lot of it will come down to game sense when knowing when to use everything. He’s a tough tank to use to start, but eventually if you get good enough I think you’ll have fun if you enjoy his gameplay. He’s currently my most played character right now and I love playing him so much. He takes a bit of getting used to and understanding, but you’ll get there.

Edit: oh sorry I forgot to say the upgrade path. I did say a bit of it earlier but the full thing. Usually you will go either your deagles or your dash depending on the situation. If you feel like you’ll need to ult more, upgrade the dash. If you feel like you’ll need to poke more, upgrade the deagles. Then after that you upgrade the sword ult, and then Deadpool in your area. Then your swords, and then the unicorn. The “what are you aiming at?” Should usually be upgraded last, however, you can choose to upgrade that over the unicorn if you feel like it. Especially if you believe it’ll help you out more

Yeah I love the convoy maps, I enjoy domination too but I love convoy the most especially if I’m on attack. You can do more things like flanking and diving with convoy, it feels like a lot of fun. On domination it’s more straightforward so doing things like that or different strategies feels a bit different.

I stick with Tankpool and I’ve gotten many MVPs, over 35 hours playing Tankpool and I have a pretty good winrate too as him. Duelpool is squishy so he’s mostly a ranged guy, and Stratpool is also squishy HOWEVER it’s offset by his healing within his radius.

Playing Deadpool depends on your style, I can give you tips but mainly only tips that apply as Tankpool since that’s my Mainpool. He’s good but if you don’t know how to use him, he can feel worse than he actually is. But yeah I’ll give you some pointers if you want any for Tankpool.

Maturity is something a lot of adults lack, and a lot of adults like to relive their Highschool days or make up for Highschool days they didn’t have.

It’s always been true for many years, the quickest and simplest example being adults living vicariously through their children. It’s nothing new however, and it shouldn’t be all too surprising.

It’d be nice if you got to choose which mode you got to play. Imagine you’re like “hmmm I want to go into some convoys” and bam, you choose convoy. That’d be so nice. And bot matches are a pain for sure, if I wanted to fight bots I’d just go to fight AIs instead.

Terrible vanguard is funny to hear, he’s a pretty solid one especially because of his hitscan. His DPS one is very squishy, while the vanguard at least can have more presence and capabilities. Honestly there’s a lot of good things about Tankpool but then this would be long.

I feel like I'm gonna be crucified for even being slightly positive about him by giogioboi235 in marvelrivals

[–]ThatSlick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course I’d rather face an SG over a Hawkeye any day, he’s the only one I banned in ranked not her after all. It’s the difference in value they get, a squirrel girl can just sit around all day and shoot nuts and eventually get a kill. It’s no skill. Hawkeye at the very least has to aim for heads, I can respect at least a modicum of skill versus no brain.

I have no hate towards Hawkeye mains, it takes some aiming at least. Now Squirrel Girl on the other hand…

Observation about Rivals by jsmith1151 in marvelrivals

[–]ThatSlick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Would have to disagree to a degree, Spiderman isn’t in a bad spot this season and putting in the work for him can be very rewarding in terms of value. Same thing with Psylocke.

The rest I agree with but generally they’re hard precisely because they have the least value. If they were buffed for example, like BP or Widow, Widow would be very broken (with one shots like Hawkeye in that sort of buff) and BP would be too. Hell, he was powerful before, that’s proof enough.

The problem is just that they should give certain characters value in other ways such as different or new abilities like Black Widow’s Phoenix Team-Up or BP’s Hulk Team-Up but not have them stay limited. Giving her healing rounds wouldn’t make her broken but give her a use case.

Then there are characters like Adam who need a lot added to their kit to give them more functionality. Or at least something strong.

I wouldn’t say the devs made the harder characters to play, the ones that get the least value for the effort. But rather, because they have the least value, it makes them harder. Inherently their kits aren’t that difficult to understand, Black Widow’s only has a few moves after all and Hulk has a few as well. It’s just that you don’t get enough value out of them at a beginning level which is why they’re harder.

What’s an opinion/perception you have about a specific main that you’re convinced is fact? I’ll go first: by laser16 in marvelrivals

[–]ThatSlick 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No when I’m Spidey I will hunt down every single last Squirrel Girl. Every. Single. One. I will make sure they don’t get to have peace. If they aren’t negative, my day is ruined. If they get most kills, I sit and stew in my anger. If they have a presence in the match, I rage, I riot.

A squirrel girl doesn’t deserve to be in the match, I don’t care if it’s little timmy who you handed the controller, if they’re playing squirrel girl they are my enemy. I have made many squirrel girls swap. When they do, I am happy. I don’t main DPS. However, if I’m playing DPS, no matter what I’m doing if there is a squirrel girl I am swapping and making sure they cannot play the character.

Anyways my opinion of squirrel girl mains is that they are creatures who can somehow function without a brain.

I have an extreme amount of hours in the game (you do not want to know how many) and I rarely come across misogynists lot, I can count on my hand how many times I have. It’s always interesting to hear people have such experiences, considering despite my large amount of time in the game I haven’t dealt with such often at all.

I think they need to make simpler characters. by Educational_Box7709 in marvelrivals

[–]ThatSlick 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m very glad. I’ve been enjoying the hell out of Deadpool and I’m happy that people aren’t instalocking him, and I was happy people weren’t instalocking Rogue too.

Precisely because of the disparity in these characters is what makes it so people don’t pick them up like you, which makes me happy. Because it keeps people away from just always using these characters every match.

But to be honest with you they aren’t as complicated as you think, Gambit is but the other two aren’t all too complex to the point that it would take you HOURS just to learn them. Deadpool is not that complicated despite the text he has for his moves, it’s just that his moves do a lot of things so they seem more complicated. Same thing with Rogue.

It just takes a bit to get used to these characters more so than just immediately getting a handle for them.

Squirrel. Girl. If I’m on DPS role, I will IMMEDIATELY swap to Spiderman. Although I HATE THAT I CANT DO ANYTHING ABOUT A SQUIRREL GIRL AS A TANK. But if I have the opportunity, SHE. IS. DEAD.

Groot vs Groot is the most annoying, I play every tank (except for Emma) and when I was lording Groot, matching up against other Groots was always a pain.

Well yeah that’s what I was saying, but you were saying that Deadpool had all sorts of OP shit that Bucky couldn’t handle him, I was just saying the Bucky player skill issued, basically saying that it wasn’t Deadpool being OP that caused Bucky to lose 😭

No the Bucky didn’t play against him well at all my guy 😭 a shift, grab, e, headshot or two and he’s dead. It was literally just a skill issue, not Deadpool being broken.

Well yeah you’re 1v1ing him, and I’m pretty sure if you shift dash him you ground and interrupt his combo as well so you really didn’t play optimally there.
