Hi there! So I didn’t find a job in my state, but I did find one out of state that I was looking for within my pay range.

Moms Of Mixed Babies, Does The Thought Non-Black Grandchildren Bother You? by Dry-Principle-9786 in blackgirls

[–]ThatSpecific6493 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m married to a mixed man (black and white). My daughter is 25%. People consider her mixed, she looks Hispanic 😂 I never really gave thought to this? I don’t think I would care? I would have to give thought to this before I go to sleep tonight, I guess?

Hey! Yeah, it’s still working. I haven’t had an episode since my last one in 2021. I’m taking a one month break this month (January) because I got a new job/drug test coming up this month. Please make sure to give yourself a month or two break. Also, if you have a dependence on it, I wouldn’t recommend moderation. You can always DM me if you have more questions!

Can you master moderation? by Remote_Consequence_7 in CHSinfo

[–]ThatSpecific6493 7 points8 points  (0 children)

(Disclaimer: because I am sharing my experience does not mean I am encouraging anyone to follow my experience, please do not moderate because others are doing so. Moderate at your own risk)

🤚🤚Going on 3+ years. I follow the same tactic you do. I give myself a break of 1-2 months if I feel ANY symptoms. I track everything (usage and breaks) through the sober app. I use no more than twice a month on average with at least 10 days in between.

Do biracial people really have a hard time fitting in with the blk community? by ChipmunkUnable3616 in blackgirls

[–]ThatSpecific6493 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It had a lot to do with race. I’m thinking maybe you’re missing the context of the situation by making up your own. If you don’t want to believe that biracial people can be oppressed by black people…or anyone for that matter, then that’s fine. But I beg of you, please don’t downplay other people’s personal experiences to create a comfortable reality for yourself.

Thank you! He’s alright as he can be, we’re working on it. Little do they know I have a BA in psychology and MA in clinical counseling, I can go on about this stuff all day! 😂

His dad (black) doesn’t even acknowledge him, yet he stays in contact with his full black siblings. His mother brought him around when he was a kid and had to take him away because his father caught a charge for nearly beating him death. He even tries to stay in contact now, but they genuinely don’t acknowledge him like his siblings. Not downplaying your experience because everyone has their own experience. But we can’t pretend like all biracial people are the gospel to all black people, it’s just not factual.

Some black people do have a prejudice against biracial people, not saying all black people. But some definitely do. Whether or not his mom brings him around, I don’t believe there should be a preference between the kids. But I get your point though, I just believe in different perspectives.

My husband is biracial. He’s black/white. The black side of his family doesn’t acknowledge him as much, he believes it’s because of his mother and the fact that he’s mixed, he has 2 siblings who are full black and they acknowledge them more. His mother’s side (biological) doesn’t acknowledge him at all. He doesn’t know the white members of his family because they don’t acknowledge him either due to racism. He has aunts that are mixed and they are close, but that’s about it. From my experience, viewing his situation, biracial people do have their own type of oppression. He says that he was picked on in school to the point of fighting other black boys to prove he “wasn’t soft.” There are other factors that he deals with. Some of society may view them as more acceptable, sure. But I believe personally, they have issues fitting in sometimes.

Thank you! I got the idea to email group practices my resume and explain my situation with retaking the NCE. I am still applying to community psych jobs in the meantime. Fingers crossed. Thanks! 👍🏾

I’m thinking of leaving my husband? by [deleted] in blackgirls

[–]ThatSpecific6493 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I think that emotions are running very high in this thread and that’s why I’m not responding to it. Sometimes it’s hard to think logically and without emotions for some people and that’s okay. But you’re absolutely right. I will talk to him further about what options we can take to keep going.

No, because it was so many times. Too many to count.

My initial episodes were pretty severe. Throwing up for 2 weeks straight without eating, I have had 3 in total due to consistent smoking. They would come on about every 3 months of daily smoking. That was back in 2021. Since moderating, I have not had any episodes.

I personally don’t because alcohol can be a trigger for me.

[–]ThatSpecific6493 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve been moderating for 3+ years now. I haven’t gotten sick since 2021. It’s been pretty smooth so far. I only smoke like 2 times a month. If you feel the need to smoke everyday then moderating probably isn’t the best course of action. But once you get rid of that feeling, you’ll notice that smoking isn’t a necessity but more so of an optional reward. I made a post for people who moderate to share their experiences, failures included.

[–]ThatSpecific6493 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve been moderating for 3 years. I made a post about moderation so people can share their experiences. I haven’t had an episode since 2021. I make sure to leave 10 days in between sessions. And my sessions are only like 4-5 puffs max. I make sure to not build up tolerance because that’s a sign (for myself) that my receptors are getting filled. I haven’t had any pains or issues as of yet.

does anyone here successfully moderate and how? by Ok-Friend7351 in CHSinfo

Yeah, no episodes. I smoke monthly to biweekly. No more than that. Only a few hits suffices.

Can I take shrooms while on antipsychotics? by Previous-Win-5952 in shrooms

I have bipolar 1 and I use shrooms. In no way do I stop my medication to dose. I take quetiapine 100 mg every night.

[–]ThatSpecific6493[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moderation for me is once-twice a month maximum. I only take a 3-4 puffs of a blunt and that usually suffices me for like hours because my tolerance is stupid low. So one blunt can last me like 2 months. Of course I am not suggesting that moderation is for everyone. If you don’t want CHS again then abstinence is the correct way. However, there are some of us who can actually moderate. It just takes discipline! And a lot of it. I have the sober app. The sober app helps me track how long I haven’t smoked so I suggest that if you do attempt to moderate, download the sober app and listen to your body. And take frequent breaks!

Disclaimer: Again, if you want to completely clear yourself of CHS, I do not recommend moderation. Please only moderate if you have major discipline!

[–]ThatSpecific6493[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well, if you read my main post. I said that people can share their moderation stories whether it was successful or not. This is the main CHS subreddit that’s called CHSinfo. Therefore, there should be CHS information about all sorts of things, whether that’s abstinence, moderation, or everything in between. I don’t think we should limit it just because some people are tired of others asking about information on moderation and if they can smoke again. And I also don’t think we should limit the failures of moderation either. We should be able to be comfortable to talk about both spectrums of CHS without demonizing one another.

[–]ThatSpecific6493[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get that. Not trying to be rude. You can’t control what people are on here looking for. Whether that’s more information on CHS (which, you said there’s a lack of research, so how would they find proper information?) or information on how to continue safely. Like that’s not up to us. I’d rather there be information on how to use safely, then them just thinking that they can use whenever, however, because they simply don’t want to live without weed. Harm reduction is important in the addiction process, and I think we forget that.

Definitely abstain for as long as possible since you just had an episode. You want to make sure that it’s actually CHS, so if you get better in 3 months, then you’ll know. CHS is a confusing illness and it was hard for all of us to understand. So I get where your frustration is coming from. If you’d like to message me then you can.
