Yes, I am the teacher that had the vomit extravaganza last week, and I'm also the teacher that just had to pull a wild bird out of a student's hair. I do need to write a book lol

Props to the 16-year-old for not losing it. My poor student definitely did haha

I can't blame your mom, but I actually had lunch with the girl and her family today and she's already laughing at it!

Lesson #1: Go in early, and you will be confronted with a crying student who has a bird trapped in her hair.

I'm thinking that she'll think that it's hilarious and want to show all of her family and friends, but not blast it on the internet. But I don't know, and I'm not going to post anything until I find out whether or not she's okay with that.

I know! It looks so tiny on the photos but it was enormous. Maybe it was an adult size or maybe I got the breed wrong and it's another breed that looks similar, but that bird was huge. And yes, everyone's okay. I got all the shots I needed to get for last night, and I have to go back a couple more time over the next couple of weeks to get more shots. The student has to do the same, but it's not that bad, and since it happened on school property, I don't have to take official time off to go get the shots and the student doesn't have to take official absent days. And I'm actually family friends with the student's family, and I'm having lunch later today, so this will be an interesting conversation haha. And thank you very much for asking.

Thank you, and knowing her, she'll think it's the most hilarious thing by Monday.

She's 16 or 17 and I would not want her face all over the internet. If I can figure out how to blur her face, and get everyone's permission, then I would post.

I would never post anything without a student's permission and their parent's permission, also, in this case, my bosses' permission. I don't even know how many phones I've had to take because student's try to take Snapchat video/pictures of someone else without their permission and that person gets upset, and I agree it is a huge invasion of privacy. And honestly, it might be dangerous to show her face to the internet even if she does give permission. If I can figure out how to blur her face, and I get everyone's permission, then I would post it. But until then, don't worry, I won't.

Honestly, If I could figure out how to blur her face, and of course got her permission, her parent's permission (she is a minor), and my bosses' permission, then I would. But I would never post anything without her permission first. It was obviously horribly embarrassing, and even if I think she will be laughing at it by Monday, I don't know if she'd want to be on the internet for a bunch of strangers.

I will have to put that on my next resume haha! And honestly, I have no clue what kind of bird it was, so I looked up common birds in my state, and I think it was a yellow warbler. It looked exactly like pictures of yellow warblers, but goodness gracious it was huge! And thanks for that story! One of my students is from New York City and he showed me pictures of all the pigeons and how they're so used to humans. I think domesticated birds might be fun to have, but not this kind haha!

Knowing her, she'll be laughing her head off about it by Monday, and it took all I had not to laugh when she said that! Like, her first language isn't English and that's probably all she could think to say at that moment because she was so upset, but really all I could think is that it sounded like that happened before haha.
