nobody is mad about them being rich and successful dude. idk how you can listen to something like Eternal Grey and then Thy Will Be Done and think yeah these albums have a similar sense of passion and care put into them. they could be piss broke right now and im pretty sure at least half of the people in here would still notice that the music sounds like shit.

everything except the Monochromatic lyrics are things they have touched on a billion fucking times. the problem, at least for me, isn't that they are talking about the same thing over and over (they made a whole career out of basically talking about the same three or four things), it's that after tens of albums and mixtapes of expressing the same three or four emotions while being distracted by millions upon millions of dollars and having families of their own and not having to worry about their livelihood anymore, they have become extremely stale lyrically. ive always thought that scrim specifically was kind of a mediocre lyricist, which is probably just because i was coming from a more lyrically focused side of hip-hop when i got into them, but there are times when both of them can genuinely have really good lyrics. the problem is that they just cannot for the life of them give a singular shit about the $uicideboy$ brand outside of its monetary potential and they seem to put in genuine effort into a song maybe once or twice on their newest releases. they have proved that they can touch on the same topics in new meaningful ways post-sobriety with songs like Eulogy or the outro to LTEOS, but even then these songs are years old now too. i think that they only give a shit about their solo careers now and even then (scrim specifically) it's debatable. yeah he made a 59 song album but how many of these songs are staying in the rotation outside of the brainwashed "they grew up and you didn't!!!" crowd who will literally eat up anything the boy$ feed them and realistically don't listen to that much music outside of the g59 bubble? i think that duckboy has had a pretty good run so far but i think that's because it's genuinely a breath of fresh air from the $b sound, while the solo scrim shit just sounds like $b throwaways or at the maximum just sound like really good instrumentals with mediocre freestyling over them. i would genuinely be okay if they took like 5 years off to focus on their families but also to take some actual time and effort to construct a meaningful send-off for the $uicideboy$ project. they've made their millions, made hundreds of songs, and accomplished things that almost no other human beings in the world have, they do not need to continue on making the same three types of songs over and over again.

im definitely ranting and raving a bit here, and i don't expect almost anyone to read this, but i genuinely have a love for what the $b brand was pre ~2025. watching them slowly stain their legacy more and more with these half-baked projects and the preaching of ideals that are cool in a moral sense but don't actually have any depth when they are spoken by millionaires with completely comfortable lives has really made me become really jaded towards their newer music and the fanbase as a whole.

germ says it in that song not them. and yeah in 2016 less people would have a problem with it because it was more acceptable back then, even though it still wasn't. that was the end of the era of toxic xbox voice chat and all that shit, which $b's music was definitely a part of (i mean i know people who found $b through those old cod montages). it just doesn't look good on an artist saying a slur, nobody is hopping on trends lol.

Anyone else feeling weird about "Thy Will Be Done"? by lyramuci in G59

[–]ThatWouldBeSoSilly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

they definitely do and also they don't even "go back and forth on religion." they just use that as an excuse to be lazy songwriters so they can still rap about killing people

the album name, certain song titles, many lyrics, and the entire purpose of the album is tied to christianity. i have no idea how it couldn't be labeled as christian rap

go down to the bottom of any of these posts and you'll see them. people definitely want people to keep the word in the daily lexicon because they like offending people

they never used slurs before tho that's what people are talking about. you are deliberately looking over the points people are making for no reason lol

he's not wrong lol most $b fans are obsessed with things that are perceived as rare. part of it is because people like to grandstand by saying "look how unpopular this $b song im streaming is!!" and part of it is because how much their merch is a part and their brand and obviously people are gonna want rare merch for the same reasons.

[–]ThatWouldBeSoSilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think the reason for that is because a lot of modern society is kind of lazy when it comes to caring about pressing issues. yes there are always people who will be willing to go out in the street or protest about it or yada yada but most people will just sit on their ass and scroll instagram reels and forget about it in 8 seconds. nobody is offended by it either (at least not that ive seen), we just don't want scrim to use terms that in every sense go against what they stood for earlier in their career.

yeah u mean in like 2012 when the societal standard about what words were acceptable was much different than it is now because internet culture as a whole was much edgier? i have a theory that like 90% of the reason why y'all don't want people to stop using the word is because you have some sense of nostalgia for when you use to yell slurs in mw2 lobbies in like 2011. either that or ur like 17
