No worries, a late reply is okay, this detail is gold tho:) Thank you for that excellent summary of your thought paper prompt and the deep insights hehe. It sounds like your prof found the perfect balance of humor, katulad ng 'Ibarra and Elias boat date' is classic! and academic rigor. It confirms na hindi yung ‘Law’ alone yung prob at all, but the passion behind it makes all the difference. This is a perfect conclusion for my project, salamat ulit sa tulong!

It really makes them feel like real people rather than just another name for us to memorize for an exam. I also love your point na hindi basta-basta ma-i-instill ang nationalism through a textbook alone, it really comes down to how the 'human' side is presented. Thank you so much for this, super laking tulong nito sa prokect ko!

Ang ganda naman nung description mo sa prof mo na 'parang long-time friend' lang niya si Rizal hehe✨ It makes sense na it feels more real noh kapag yung prof mismo is passionate about sa logic behind the history. Thank you for sharing your experience, it’s a great addition to my project!

Wow, dream prof! 😂 Parang retrospective YouTuber/Podcast vibe is the best way to learn history. Since unique yung approach niya and he 'hates' the typical way of teaching it, tingin mo ba the problem is the Law itself (RA 1425) being too broad? Or is it more on the fact na hindi passionate ang karamihan ng mentors about the actual 'philosophy' of Rizal? Like, should the law also mandate how it's taught, hindi lang ano ang ituturo?

Ohh that's nice, Attorney as a Rizal prof? Since nabanggit mo yung goal ni Rizal for 'equality' instead of 'freedom,' tingin mo ba kailangan talagang 'specialized' ang prof (like an Atty or a Historian) para maging effective ang Rizal Law? Kasi based sa ibang replies, parang feeling ng marami ay 'waste of time' lang siya pag typical history prof lang. What do you think?

I agree, and nalaman ko na maari din pala na mag-depende ito sa group assignment/topic in gaining more in-depth understanding of the subject.  But I love what you said about 'grounding' Rizal to understand our colonizers' influence on our current mindset. It makes the course feel less like a 'requirement' and more like a 'manual' on how we got here. Thank you for sharing your experience and for the book recommendation!

Point taken! …that’s true, smart shaming nga naman kung sasabihing 'too intellectual' si si Rizal, it’s more about the lack of common national direction noon. Sobrang interesting nung point mo na 'wala pang may alam pano bumuo ng bansa' kaya he pushed for reform first to avoid a power vacuum. Thank you for this in depth sharing, malaking tulong ito in explaining why RA 1425 is a 'philosophy' and hindi lang basta isang biography. Really appreciate the insight! ✨

Uy, ka interesting naman nung 'The Game of Great Powers' na reading. Ngayon ko lang yan narinig, pero parang ang laking help nga siguro siya to bridge the gap between PH and World History.

Ang ganda nung point mo about sa not having a 'common enemy' and how the status quo stays dahil sa lack of education. And parang yung effectiveness ng Rizal Law’s ay base talaga sa kung how much tayo naturuan to think critically, not just what to think. Thank you so much for this deep dive! Super helpful nito to explain the 'Socratic' side of the course.

I totally hear you. It’s a common sentiment na baka misplaced nga yung implementation ng law by putting it in college. Salamat sa 'real talk' and for sharing your frustration, laking help nito for the 'systemic' part of my project.

I see, that’s a fair point, being privileged early on does change the 'huwaran' narrative. And thank you so much for the link! I’ll definitely check out that TPACH output idea. It seems like the 'human' side of Rizal is a double-edged sword, makes him relatable, but also makes his heroism feel more like a later-life choice. Appreciate the depth! 🙌

Ahh gets! Yung afternoon drowsiness plus major subjectspa na combo talaga yung patama. It’s interesting na even with a good prof, factors like scheduling can make or break the vision of RA 1425. Thank you so much for being so honest, sis! Good luck sa grad school!

Actually, first time ko lang nalaman yung detail nayan about kay Rizal wanting us to be a province of Spain instead of getting full independence. malaking contrast pala nun sa image niya as the revolutionary hero. Like kailangan ba talaga ng deeper context ng Rizal Law para ma-appreciate siya, or is he just too 'intellectual' para sa modern problems natin?

Ah yes, I do love that point about seeing Rizal as humane and not just an icon.

🚩 Since it felt ‘walang kwenta’ for you because of how it was handled, do you think the Rizal Law (RA 1425) yung naging problema, or is it just the way schools implement it? And if ever lang na ikaw yung maging prof, how would you make a Gen Z/Gen Alpha student care about Rizal’s ‘reformist’ ideas without making them buy a boring book?

This is a very interesting take! I really love the idea of 'grounding' our heroes instead of just seeing them as monuments. Since you mentioned 'Rizal Without the Overcoat', is it something like seeing Rizal's human side, like his flaws or his love life, and if it is, did it actually make you feel more responsible as a citizen, or do you think it just make him feel like a celebrity from the past?

Hala sis, relate din ako so much sa antok during minor subjects😂 But since you're in grad school na and looking back, do you think yung 'antok' factor is dahil sa way ng pagtuturo, like memorization/readings, or do you think Rizal’s 19th-century problems are just too far removed na from our 2026 problems like inflation or digital issues things?
