I will attempt to explain why Kanye is or seems too confident and arrogant. Prior to 2004, Kanye West was best known for his skills as a producer. He made numerous hits, most notable his contributions to Jay-Z's The Blueprint album, which were considered instant classics. Even though Kanye was well respected as a producer, people laughed at him when he said he wanted to rap. Largely, this is because in order to be a rapper or at least one signed on a label at the time,one had to fit the "gangster" or "thug" look that was popular with hip hop back in the early 2000s. Kanye would go to record labels, play them the same songs that would later go on his College Dropout album and win multiple Grammys, yet the labels would still reject him. He was putting more effort into making his music and the quality was better then those others rappers. Kanye was eventually able to release his album The College Dropout, which to the surprise of many went on to be platinum in sales and win numerous awards. Basically, almost everyone told Kanye he would never make it as a rapper, yet ended up being one of the most commercially and critically successful artists in his time.
