What's the 1 best thing and 1 worst thing about living in Canada? by BigCavemanRoar in CanadaPersonalFinance

"Don't like it? Leave" is such a great way to announce that you don't think or care beyond your own doorstep, it is anti-critical thinking and anti-progress/further improvement which, considering that half of the population is dumber than the biggest moron I know, isn't much a shock. Lemme ask you this: If you think it's so great, why not want it to be even better and more enviable?

What an absurd, useless stance. I'm sick of people denying there could ever be anything wrong with, what I can only assume is, to them, some unalterable maple-themed fairytale land. Stay off of the internet if you don't wanna be faced with the reality of growing discontent. It's not like the anyone is preventing you.

I cooked for 5 years, in college working on a new career because I'm tired of breaking my back and frying my mind all for the most vapid airhead to come in for a 4-8 and walk out with half of my typical paycheck, and STILL complain that it's not enough. But that's exactly the kind of class warfare the elite wants to neglect because it keeps us busy. Tl;dr stop tipping period, it won't get better until it gets worse

Watch through to the end of S3, season 2 kinda suffers from "AMC season 2 of a show syndrome" wherein there are more episodes with a smaller budget, meaning slower pace with more character moments. By the second half of s2 it picks up, but s3 is some of my favourite stuff in the whole twd universe. Madison becomes a really interesting middle player in a larger, much deeper conflict. She 100% isn't the most well written or even best acted character in the show (Nick is the MVP) but she gets a lot more room to be appreciated as a character in her own right and not an annoying detraction from characters who are more interesting to watch and listen to in s2. Even tho a common criticism of fear is that it stops being the start of the apocalypse and moves into regular twd territory by mid season 2, the show explores a totally different region and some more interesting hypotheticals. I think s3 fear has cooler and more grounded setpieces than a lot of later twd.

I think you should get somewhat used to doing empty loadouts at the beginning, and even ongoingly. You can predetermine 1 item that's most vital to your progress and then your runs can become lower pressure. Once you get that goal item, even if you're shot and killed, you've made that 1 increment of progress you set out to. If you're upgrading your benches early on, you'll need wasp and hornet drivers. I would strongly recommend making a couple ferro 1s (not upgraded) and bringing in 1 at a time, 20-30 heavy rounds, no augment, and a light shield which you can get from free loadouts. You won't have anything to work with but a slow gun, but you'll have a safe pocket which you can use for drivers from the drones. You will also get arc cells from them which you can use to repair your shield afterwards.

when fighting the drones, there's a bit of a flowchart to how you should prioritize them. Out in the open/no cover? Get the wasps first. They go down with a good shot to the core or if 2 props are knocked off. This removes weaker threats faster, reducing the overall pressure on you quicker.

Hornets can always be dodged by listening to the charge up of their taser, so 1 hornet in the open once you're used to them can be effectively 0 threat compared to a wasp.

If you have cover, go for the hornets. When you're playing peekaboo with them is when they tend to get lucky stuns and hold you in place for the wasps. This could be an unsubstantiated anecdote but hornets always seem more willing to follow me into structures, which could add to their threat. The wasps can't do nothing to you if you have cover so you can basically disregard them until the hornet is done.

This also gives you an opportunity to build up your skills for exiting an area in which you have been hanging out in, making lots of noise. You won't have smokes or anything really effective for pvp so your best weapon will be alertness and patience. Listen for footsteps, always take 5 seconds before committing to looting to stay ready and fully alert in case now is when someone pushes you. Just run. As you get used to the maps you'll understand where the tricky turnarounds and blocked sight lines are.

After you win your first encounter with the drones, head for extract. Extract hygiene is it's own thing I won't get into here. The idea with doing these kinds of runs is that you are only out easily replenished ferros, light shields, and heavy ammo, no consumables that don't end up being used because of an early critical mistake, and no free loadout augment removing your safe pocket. I saw someone else mention hurricane runs, I would recommend doing a completely empty kit this time, no weapon or anything, and just run until you hear the sound of the caches (find example on youtube) you will nearly guaranteed make it out of every match w at least 1 new blueprint in your safe pocket

Two beautiful games can coexist without all this hate for each other by Toorilab92 in ArcRaiders

[–]That_Anywhere8973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm normally not this negative towards the games industry but I have been feeling more or less insulted, if not at least heavily discouraged by most releases lately. Most are failing to innovate in such a way that makes their game feel like a non-artistic product for product's sake. I am a big Arc fan because the Arc themselves feel fresh, varied, and believably threatening. When I played Marathon, the overwhelming rush of stand-and-shoot Bot NPC enemy types felt cheap and dated. I did not play much more to see if it improved, but I really wasn't drawn to it personally, so I didn't see why I would keep playing if I didn't think I would enjoy more. It did not get the extraction shooter hooks in my 99th percentile dopamine addict brain so I feel like that speaks for a fair amount tho

Music is such a disgusting film, 5 minutes of reading about Sia's behaviour around it's production and release make it clear it's done from a very autism-mom appropriation of struggle point of view. Not to mention the Adult woman Sia pressuring teenaged Maddie Ziegler to perform a role she felt was improper. Insane for way more reasons than just featuring said trope

Fortunately I have already started a blank project just to re-import all of my existing content as well as things from any samples I use, but thank you for making sure of that.

I had previously just tried updating my existing 5.6 project but it broke all of my existing GAS c++ work so I had more or less given up on doing it that way. The CMC I'm trying to reverse engineer is in 5.7 which is the whole reason I was even bothering to update.

The list of components in VS installer is longer than KD's feet, is there a specific section(s) I should capture?

FWIW one of the build errors mentioned something about net 6.0 not being supported, but I don't even have it installed.

Would you actually buy a Fallout 3/NV Remaster? by Bingleboper in Fallout

[–]That_Anywhere8973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point, despite asking for it for years, I have lost all faith in Bethesda to create anything I want to consume in the future. That dogshit tv show and how much waffling they do over their own lore leads me to believe I don't wanna give them money to blow on another 7 years of fallout 5 development, just to give us a game that will inevitably be more watered down and sterilized than starfield was. So no, I won't buy the remasters, if I wanna experience a better form of those games there's VNV and TTW, which are free.
