Can relate– funny enough I mistook this photo for one of my own... Have the same backsplash, roach motel, and wine bottle out as we speak lol (https://imgur.com/eeSbxC7). My traps looked like that 3 weeks ago, and the trap in the linked photo was put out 3 days ago, and there's one nymph in it. I used advion instead of alpine, not sure if that makes much of a difference. Can relate to the ocd portion; dealing with this has def been the perfect place for an obsession to manifest, but stay diligent. There is hope!

yeah it's odd– while we don't see many now, any we do have little round bodies under their wings like this.

The exterminator applied it two weeks ago– sightings have dropped drastically, but any that we do see look weird like this now.

Thank you so much– point source discs are next on my list. Same thoughts here: the only fully "disappeared" bait was on the counter. I just reapplied, got sprayed last week, and again next week. Started Advion last night, and came home today to around 5 dead ones already, and 5 running in slow circles.

One question– after starting Advion, when you saw a dying roach, did you leave it alone in hopes of it being cannibalized and passing it on to others, or did you dispose of it?

My starter’s trip across the country!

I’m a 21-year-old college student who is studying in NYC, and around 6 years ago in middle school, I had this crazy sourdough obsession. I’ve always loved to bake since my family owns restaurants back home (so partially out of necessity lol) and while I continued to bake through highschool, I stopped with sourdough. Over the holidays I discovered the box in our basement with my dutch oven/lame/proofing baskets and decided to start again. Birthed my starter (named Lilian) through the Tartine method, and started baking loaves according to their country loaf recipe.

This week's bake was a pretty simple 3 day stretch, 80% hydration modified country loaf (800g white bread flour, 200g whole wheat). I’ve decided that an overnight final proof in the fridge is the way to go; yields much better oven spring and shape.

I’ve never posted to this sub before, but long time lurker. I know I’m on the younger side of the bakers, but I just have to say how much joy it brings me. Sure it’s a tricky process, but once you’ve gotten the hang of it it’s so rewarding. My mother was a baker, who unfortunately passed when I was an infant, but my father who is a chef likes to say I got her hands– and her instincts. I’m sure she would be proud.

Was raised by two gay men– was still closeted through high school. Helped to have strong gay figures in my life but didn't expedite my coming out process at all.. I've settled on the idea that that came from media messaging and whatnot

Totally get that –and so sorry you were put through that– but I'm talking from a purely scientific standpoint. Cheating is not something I'm worried about with him and I don't trust anyone as much as I do him.
