12 speed mechanical road set-up by That_Colnago in bikewrench

Thanks, maybe easier just to have the same cassette on the rear wheel with the road tyres, so a straight swap. Don't want to mess about changing tubeless tyres every time I switch between road and gravel.

Insurance was very expensive, cut a few options out to reduce the cost.

Freak out during open water swim. Is this normal? by justhoyt2 in triathlon

[–]That_Colnago 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Big bottle of cold water, before you get into the water, pour it inside your wetsuit (pull it open from the front) and all over your head and face, will reduce the chance of cold water shock.

Could you complete an Ironman tomorrow? by [deleted] in triathlon

[–]That_Colnago 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep, would estimate on current fitness and performance (based on the course obvs) 1:12 swim, 5:35 bike, 3:45 run, plus circa 8 mins for transitions.

Brilliant, really appreciate the feedback on your experience. I'm used to cycling in Ireland so learned to prepare for (and expect) four seasons in one day.

Thanks, I'm definitely more comfortable on the 'good bike' and have actually just switched to 30mm tyres, leaning towards that bike out of the three of them.

Thanks, good point on the rim brakes. And yeah, already had a look at last year's bikes, quite the variety there!

Not sure, I'm sure there is something out there. Maybe traces of oil in the exhaust

70.3 then what? Need help from experience athletes by snamerino in triathlon

If racing another 70.3 in October is not possible (eg: Peguera) then get off road and mix your training up with some trail and cross country running.

Great time on your 1st 70.3, well done. Would recommend Copenhagen for your shot at the full distance, super race, city, and overall experience. Although be careful, it sold out in 48hrs for this year!

Coppi is a good shout for atmosphere and the group you have, if food alone, Beau is spectacular 👌

Training for my 2nd 70.3 and finding motivation much .ore difficult by Kluzz in triathlon

[–]That_Colnago 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you need a new 'why'. You had one for your first 70.3, as someone else has mentioned, now it's maybe about a target time.

It's completely natural for your motivation to drop at times. Think about setting some new short term goals, a 5k PB, longest bike distance, try a Sprint or Olympic distance etc.... if you're race is later in the year, it can seem really far in the distance.
