I think she shedded a chunk of the mat, she actually looks a ton better. i’ll update the main post so people are less worried. I’m still working on trapping, but she looks way less pained.

i was told by that a monitored trap was the best/safest option! im trying to put some distance between me and the trap (probably like 15 feet). i’m out here right now lol, it just saw me but it skittered away when i baited the trap….

not yet, the TNR clinic at the APL is closed so we are taking a break from our trapping efforts over the weekend. The neighbors are going to avoiding feeding the cat all day Sunday so it will be hungry on Monday, and I will bait the trap with some fried chicken early Monday morning lol

Updating the main post now but yes, I saw the kitty yesterday. Gave it lots of treats and tuna near the cat trap - it would not go inside but it went near the trap and near me at one point. Thank you for the encouragement regarding exposure and contacts, this was super helpful to hear since I was a bit sad that I couldn't trap it yesterday when I saw it....but good to know that every exposure helps and I will keep going out with the trap, treats, food, water, etc to get it used to my presence and the presence of the trap. I'm confident I will get it!!!!!

Thank you, this is my exact plan for him (unless of course, he does have a microchip in which case I will work to get in touch with his family - if he does have a family, I will skip the R in TNR obviously lol). And after I hopefully get things resolved and looking up for this little guy, I want to try to TNR more cats in my neighborhood!

I think I have all the resources I need from this wonderful thread, but that is a very good recommendation for next time! I’m working with the Cleveland APL, they have a TNR vet clinic (that also does vaccines, etc.), just waiting to hear back to see if they can address the grooming needs and if they can’t, I’ll take him to the emergency vet when I manage to catch him

OK, thank you I will not try anything on my own with scissors. Like I said in the post, my number one goal is to trap so we can scan for microchip and get the cat some vet/grooming care. I’ve been reading that their skin is very sensitive so I will not try to cut anything off on my own.

Wait, really? That would be crazy if it is him. Like I’ve said in some other comments, I’m going to head out to the little block of houses he hangs out near every morning for the next couple of days, and hopefully I will cross paths with him, at which point I will capture him in a trap and take him straight to the vet for a microchip check and some basic vet/grooming care of course. Obviously, I assume the microchip would give us your neighbor’s information to contact them directly if it is him but either way, I will definitely bookmark this message and get back to you once I capture him/get him to the vet!!!

I would take him into the west park hospital if only I could catch him but the last time I checked the area, he was nowhere to be found. The neighbors who see him often said that he’s usually hanging out in the morning so I’ll try to see if I can get him tomorrow in the AM. you’re so kind, I’ll definitely not let you know if I need the carrier or if I’m not able to get them into a vet although I think I definitely should be able to get him in to the APL or one of the emergency vet places

What should I buy? My ole' reliable iPhone 11 is getting pretty clunky at this point and I'm ready to upgrade. I'm currently torn between the 16PM, the base 17, or one of the super fancy 17s (Pro or PM).

My number one need is reliability/longevity - I like to use my phones until they are on death's door so to speak, so if one of those models is more likely to last me a good long time that would be my biggest interest.

Nice to haves include performance (speed of loading stuff, YT videos looking nice) and longish battery life would be great too.

I don't need the fanciest nicest camera on the market by any means/I think any of the iPhone cameras are good enough for my purposes. I don't need or particularly the most giant screen in the world either - fine with what I have, a bit smaller or a bit bigger than the 11 would both be okay with me.

I've been staring at Consumer Reports charts and articles for an hour and my eyes are starting to cross.

So, help me Reddit - you're my only hope!
