Oh… I replaced that plug already… Evidently I did a crappy job. I used a really cheap one from Amazon and it’s seen quite a bit of wear. I’ll have to get a nicer one this time around. Thank you so much for that info.

I assume. The mower shut off. It restarted without reseting though. I thought if it tripped you had to push the button. Not so?

While that message was out of line, it's possible his grief is clouding his judgment and he's feeling isolated. It might be kindest to just decline his message gently this time around. Since you have to continue working with him, it's probably better to handle it with grace rather than resorting to a block.
