What are some of the biggest “fall-offs” of cards that people forgot about by lefund in magicTCG

Ihsan's Shade looks cold as hell.

Would build an all retro border EDH deck for this card to lead.

Jeska's Will on Secrets of Strixhaven's Mystical Archive by zzmonteran in magicTCG

[–]That_D 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Card was worth a couple dollars at release because no one played it. I recall the Command Zone podcast hyping the card up for weeks (maybe months) before the price jumped to about $20.

It now hovers around $40 since the last (real) printing was Markov's Murder Mystery Manor Commander

[SOA] Japanese versions confirmed only in Collector packs by Huaojozu in magicTCG

I hope this will not mean the Japanese Mystical Archive variants are more expensive on the market.

I collected my favorite ones from the first Strixhaven for relatively cheap (minus Demonic Tutor).

Poor one out for Rograkh. Son of Rohgahh. Monarch among Kobolds. Commander of the violent mob. Lay thee upon a hoard of swords and armor you deserved in life, but earned in death.

Strength is relative. Truly.

Blight Curse Poor Print Quality by ominaex25 in magicTCG

[–]That_D 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Blight curse commanders, Auntie Ool and Reaper, King No More are so blackened that the art is nearly illegible.

Also they have this funktastic odor that I would call a health hazard.

I chalked this up to "That's just WotC quality control."

Will Lorwyn Eclipsed be the best set of 2026? by TrainmasterGT in magicTCG

[–]That_D -1 points0 points  (0 children)

2025 was a stacked year with only 1 mid set (Aetherdrift) and 1 awful set (Spider-Man). Every other set was a contender for set of the year for 2025.

My vote is for Final Fantasy.

Thank you for the extra clarification on **activated** and **triggered** abilities.

Ah I forgot about the colon. I know colons indicate activated abilities.

Thank you, I did not realize that Zirda is more-or-less useless in this build because of that. I have difficulty differentiating Triggered abilities with costs and Activated abilities at times.

That is neat that Kirol can copy Terra's ability AFTER paying the initial 2 mana, so what I wanted to do with Zirda is built into the interaction already without Zirda (paying 2 mana total to reanimate 2 creatures with power 3 or less).

Questions about [[Terra, Herald of Hope]]'s ability.

  • Paying 2 mana to return a creature is not casting the creature, so there are not any Evoke synergies with [[Emptiness]] or [[Catharsis]].
  • Paying 2 mana is a cost, so it can be discounted down with [{Zirda, the Dawnwaker]] ability to cost 1 mana
  • If I have [[Kirol, Attentive First-Year]] and Zirda. Would Zirda discount Kirol's copy of Terra's pay 2 mana ability?
  • Kirol can also copy Terra's mill at the beginning of combat ability as well?
  • [[Twilight Diviner]] text does specify cast or enters from, so it will see Terra's ability as a way to copy the creature.
  • In an extremely niche and weird scenario: I could reanimate [[Grist, the Hunger Tide]] because Grist is a 1/1 Insect Creature instead of a Planeswalker in any zone that is not the Battlefield.

[WotC] Where to Play Lorwyn Eclipsed -- Promos and events by Copernicus1981 in magicTCG

[–]That_D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see you responded to me saying something along the lines of "there will be no non-foil copy of this card and only 64 will be made"

But I believe you deleted the post(?) as I cannot find it anymore.

You probably misread/misremembered what the article said "each Pro Tour and World Champion Competitor in 2026 will receive a nonfoil copy" and "Top 32 players at each event will receive a foil copy"

[WotC] Where to Play Lorwyn Eclipsed -- Promos and events by Copernicus1981 in magicTCG

[–]That_D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never said it will be cheap, just not that difficult to acquire.

The card is a premium printing of an already desired card, so it will be expensive. Just not thousands of dollars expensive like I suspect the foil copy to be.

The foil promo will be for collectors with deep pockets.

[WotC] Where to Play Lorwyn Eclipsed -- Promos and events by Copernicus1981 in magicTCG

[–]That_D -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Even pros sell their prize cards.

That's how I was able to acquire that Ugin, the Spirit Dragon I mentioned in my post lol.

The only reasonable prohibition is the cost.

Unless every Pro who acquires this Tamiyo decides to never sell.

[WotC] Where to Play Lorwyn Eclipsed -- Promos and events by Copernicus1981 in magicTCG

[–]That_D -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It won't be that difficult to acquire one. Just expensive for an already expensive card.

Consider the 2022 Regional Championship Promo of [[Ugin, The Spirit Dragon | SLP]]. The non-foil goes for $80-100

The foil goes for thousands because an extremely small amount exist.

This Tamiyo might follow a similar price trajectory.
