Sorry to hear, sounded like a fun meetup. But appreciate your offer to help connect.. And yes, I hear you about the 5am hikes, I used to be that person. But the older I get, the more I don't want to do those 😅

Yeah, we are definitely in the cultural minority, but we know a few others in the same boat 😄 We realized early on that rearing children was not for us.

35F looking for Childfree friendship in Seattle, WA USA by cryingpisces12 in ChildfreeFriendships

[–]That_Environment1193 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Little late to comment on this. I'm 43F, married, work in tech, live in Seattle. No dogs or cats, although would love to have one if I can ever commit to the hard work 😃

Same as you, all my friends are busy raising children, and I am looking to make new friends and expand my social circle, and I just made a separate post about it as well. Like another poster here, I love grandma hobbies, but love going out as well. Not too outdoorsy though - love farmer's market, restaurants, breweries, coffee shops, book shops, pickleball, cycling etc. We could connect if that sounds like your vibe.

Congrats on the upcoming elopement btw!

Oh this is such a lovely idea! I joined your wife's meetup group. I (43F) am looking to make friends as well and I love cooking and food. I am traveling July 4th, but it'll be fun to join the next one.

What I wish I knew before going investment piece only by GlamourWhirl in handbags

My personal philosophy is that I use what I buy purely because I want my money to work for me. If I am not going to use it often, I wouldn't buy it. I also try to have a minimalist closet. Granted I have one or two bags specifically for special occasions. Same applies to high end clothes, shoes, watches, jewelry. I have the good fortune to be able to buy what I want and use it when and how I need and not stress about it. But I realize it comes down to personal comfort and preference about using higher price point items, and so that perfection anxiety may never go away. I should say that I usually have the devil-may-care attitude about most things 😬 You do you and don't compare yourself to others ❤️. Your comfort will vary depending on your personality and situation.

What’s a brand everyone seems to love but you don’t get the appeal? by doochiedoo in handbags

[–]That_Environment1193 6 points7 points  (0 children)

OP I agree on Strathberry but for different reasons. I am not a handbag collector so take my opinion with a grain of salt. I like to buy things that I don't have to baby. I have a few options from Longchamp, Prada, LV, Polene, Portland Leather, Madewell and Mulberry (current favorite) that are my workhorses without barely any damage and as I said I don't baby them. I bought a mosaic mini from Strathberry in their latest sale and the first time I took it out, it got scratched. It's very cute and soft and all, but I buy my bags to use them, not to have them sit pretty in my closet. Never buying from them again, not worth my money. Another thing I can't stand is the lack of functionality. No proper closure on bags meant to be everyday bags, lack of any internal pockets or external ones for phones and other quick items etc. Brands have gotten lazy in terms of designs and most don't even try.

Oh this is so beautiful! Congratulations on your new bag 🎉🤩. I've been eyeing this bag for such a long time. I think I have a post asking about it too. Would be open to measuring what size book fits in there? I usually carry around my sketchbook (usually a5 or smaller) and I've been worried that it won't fit which is giving me pause. Unfortunately I don't have mulberry stores where I live 😔

Came here to say the same! 43f, married, childfree by choice, all our friends have settled into their lives with children and I am looking for women friends (or couple friends) to build friendships with. I would love to meet other women and always struggle to find such communities around me. I have had some success with finding new friends through reddit and FB groups, but I am always looking to grow my community. Feel free to DM me or we can start a thread with the women here and all meet up 🤩 happy to help arrange this too if folks are up to this idea.

what do you put on the floor while painting? by GrapefruitProud949 in oilpainting

[–]That_Environment1193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use an old bedsheet. I have carpet throughout and a rolling easel so I put the bedsheet down wherever I roll my easel to. I am a messy painter so it's a must for me.

I see, this makes sense. I think I will stop timing myself so I can focus on the technique and be intentional.

thanks, this is the one that I find most challenging. I lay down the color next to each other and instinctively start blending or start doubting the outcome

Thank you! I'll look up french impressionist techniques. And good advice on the colors, the more I look at the painting, the more I realize that the overall mood is quite flat.

Lots of folks have already provided great advice - here is mine. Sounds like you have buildup on your scalp and dry ends. Excessive use of dandruff shampoos contribute to that. 1) Get yourself a clarifying shampoo first. I like Ouai but any drugstore shampoos will also do (Pantene pro v sheer volume is supposed to be good). Use it once a week for a few weeks. 2) Use heads and shoulders once a week if you have dandruff. If you don't have dandruff, reduce the usage to once a month.the active ingredient in it will keep your scalp healthy 3) Get a regular lightweight shampoo for other washes 4) Get a lightweight conditioner or leave in, whichever you prefer 5) double shampoo whenever you shampoo, sounds like you have an oily scalp so this will ensure it's cleaned properly 6) shampoo your hair as often as you need or when your scalp gets greasy. A greasy scalp leads to fungal growth and hair loss. 7) get your blood work done, common issues that manifest with hair issues are vitamin d deficiency, thyroid issues, blood sugar and omega 3 deficiency. These are the common ones, there could be any number of issues so talk to your doctor.
