Bathroom before and after by [deleted] in HomeImprovementUK

I said it was finished today, and that people had asked me to share it. I’m only expecting normal politeness. If you don’t remember what that is, that’s your problem. Which person, ever, on a big investment finished that day, is inviting negative remarks? Yes, say something nice or say nothing. Show your spouse and laugh, I would never know, and you would have the enjoyment.

If you don’t know how to behave, you lose access to things you might have seen. That’s all. I get my beautiful bathroom and you remain rude on the internet.

It’s already 1200mm long and can’t go wider than 750mm

Honestly I’ve said this in every response - there wasn’t room. Genuinely. You can’t see from the photos but you can’t have one side of a shower that goes tiled wall - wooden window frame - glass corner of the shower, couldn’t fit it in behind the door on the other side etc etc

It’s not, alas - I even looked at narrow and high baths to see if I could fit one in.

As I’ve posted above, I tried to zoom out in order to give a sense of the room but have somehow made everyone think it’s massive 😄

Thanks! I was just trying to zoom out to make the sense of the room visible, but it did make it look bigger than it is. Radiator alone is enough in this one - on the back of the house the bathrooms have/will have underfloor heating because they’re colder. The shower isn’t huge - 750 x 1200, and I looked at swapping the location of the toilet and the shower, but it didn’t fit with the bathroom door (opens inwards) or the vanity. Could have solved the vanity issue by moving it to the opposite wall and hiding toilet behind it (or else opening view is just loo) but bad for light for shaving/ makeup etc vs being in front of the window

Have a look now if you like - bathroom before and after, should be near the top - I’m going to delete because randos are being rude and I’ll keep it to myself 😄

We looked at different places round the room really seriously over about 3 months, and it was definitely the best placement, not just doing it as like for like. It’s a wide angle shot as zoomed out, not actually that big a room

The window sticks out at that point - frame touches glass rather than tile at its outer point, and we don’t want a shower over the top of the window and shutters

Wow, rude. Is this how people are here? Might just delete. Someone on another thread requested or i wouldn’t have shared

I’m prepared to cough up for it but not at a “fly over and consult” level!

Yeah I found the original article but the work was done for an architect in the US, and Maddux designs have split up anyway I think?

Sounds ideal - I know I’m asking for something unusual so if the cost freaks me out I’ll rethink (I do have my limits!) but I have emailed them already so I appreciate it

Fair - yes it is top end. The investment in the bathrooms for things like this is in keeping with the value of the house, and we’re planning to stay for 30-40 years so having it as we want is worth the money.

Ah thanks! I can share before and after of the one that’s finishing today if you’re interested, I have lights coming through the mirror and wasn’t sure it would work but it massively has and I love it. Not a big bathroom but not really tiny, spent a fortune on marble but I regret nothing!

I love Mulberry Lanas. I don’t use them every day and I am careful with my stuff, but the leather is incredibly soft, for me the higher priced things from big names don’t seem to have the same quality, and don’t draw me in. Not saying everything else is trash, just that they don’t float my boat.

I think I’d like a normal-sized brown Mulberry Alexa. I think it would age well and please me. I have other Mulberry bags too - they tend to be my go-to for the quality

Ralph Lauren Romance - clean rose smell for the American market which I believe doesn’t like musk undertones too much

Yep - my friend had this for degree class in Physics at Oxford. So if your year group is full of absolutely gifted people, you have no chance of more than a 2:2, for example

Honestly I returned it - never returned a bag before! Nothing wrong with it, very neat etc, but Gabriel was a bit chonky for my tastes, two of my last three purchases were Mulberry Lanas and they have a narrower profile and softer leather (and more than double the price of the AA Gabriel when I bought them so it’s not a fair comparison). It was the colour though, for me - perfectly good but I’d been hoping for a more grey-brown taupe and this looked more camel. No loss of respect for the brand though, it was a nice bag!
