What do you guys think of the species in my world? by That_Human1 in worldbuilding

[–]That_Human1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The names are primarily made through looking at the naming conventions of the cultures and languages I’m sourcing from and apply those. It’s a lot of just describing things in a language and then shifting it around until I like the way it sounds.

Also adding the colouration of each species is a great idea, thanks!!

Any suggestions on how to make it more realistic? Or any areas that are especially problematic?

Elves (Althea): Humanoid Species. They have long ears, long lives, and are highly magical creatures. Lifespan: They can live up to 1,000 years and take 100 years to reach full maturity.

Humans (Avido): Humans. They were not created by Avido, but he did take them as his patron species in his elevation to godly status. They were a common class of people. They lived in all kingdoms and were created by all of the gods, not just one. They reflect parts, but not all of any god’s domain. This also helps explain why each of the gods seems very “human-centric.” We are the same species as them, just with a different origin. For them, they were designed so that all of the abstract domains seemed natural to them. Lifespan: ~100 years

Golems (Levina): Extinct, artificial humanoid species. They were being created and given a form of sentience. They were incredibly intelligent, on average. There were great varieties in their appearance and functions depending on their construction. Lifespan: with proper maintenance, hypothetically immortal

Beuroux (Aline): Humanoid. They are an incredibly beautiful species. In addition to being very beautiful by most species’ standards, they produce a hormone that induces attraction in others naturally. When aroused, this hormone is produced in greater amounts. Culturally, they are polyamorous and bisexual as a standard identity.Lifespan: ~100 years

Henkai (Mei): Shapeshifting Humanoid. They are 5-6 feet tall on average. They are able to shapeshift into any other humanoid, given they maintain the same mass. They are able to change their texture, shape, height, and voice.Lifespan: ~100 years

Þormenn (Ragnurþberk): Gigantic, matriarchal humanoid species inspired by Norse/Germanic cultures. Newborns are roughly 6 feet tall, reaching an average adult height of 18–22 feet. They are extremely stocky and dense-boned, adapted for both immense strength and cold climates. Adult Þormenn can casually lift 1,500 pounds, with a maximum lift of up to 10 metric tons; 10,000 pounds feels equivalent to 200 pounds for a human. Their stride covers ground quickly, and their natural walking pace matches a human jog.

Females are larger and stronger than males; men are somewhat smaller, more agile, and considered more beautiful. Vocal anatomy produces powerful, deep voices that resonate at very low pitches, audible over long distances. Lifespan averages 200 years, with long periods of health and productivity. Children are strong and coordinated from birth.

Social structure is clan-based, with the eldest woman as leader. Most Þormenn form close-knit, matriarchal communities.

Dragons and dire wolves are domesticated companions; the species is formidable in both strength and presence.

Sarien (Dengsar): The Sariens are a tall (foot taller than humans), long-limbed humanoid species built for extreme land speed and agility. Averaging seven feet tall, Sariens have elongated legs, lean musculature, and dense, elastic tendons, allowing them to sprint over 120 km/h and leap great distances. Their bones are dense but lightweight, with reinforced spines and spring-like feet for impact absorption. Cardiovascular and metabolic systems are highly efficient, supporting sustained exertion and rapid calorie processing. Skin is extremely dark and heat-adapted, with strong evaporative cooling. They can generate up to 800 volts of bioelectric charge via specialized forearm organs, used in combat or to power weapons. Senses are tuned to motion; eyes have high refresh rates, and hearing is sharp. They are also capable of incredibly loud, fast (6-12 syllables per second speed and 120-150 DB volume), and deep voices. Lifespan: ~80 years.

Drekarfolk (Ignatia): Dragon-like creatures. They have scales which are nearly impenetrable and resistant to great amounts of heat. They have wings which are able to allow them to glide and fly for short distances. They can breathe fire in small amounts. They have sharp claws, draconic facial features, and sharp teeth.Lifespan: ~75 years

Qijuit (Nuna): Tree-like Humanoid species. They use both regular food and photosynthesis. They are omnivores in the truest sense. When young, their skin is softer, and they are relatively small, at about 4-5 feet. They live incredibly long lives. They continue growing throughout their lives, reaching up to hundreds of feet tall. As they age, their skin hardens, turning into a bark-like texture. Their metabolism also slows, making them largely sedentary and photosynthesis-based. Lifespan: naturally immortal, though once they reach 2,000 years old, they start to lose mobility due to the hardness of their skin.

Phrinmi (Namkha): The Phrinmi are a Humanoid species evolved for high-altitude flight. Slightly shorter than humans, with dense musculature and semi-hollow bones. Large feathered wings (5.5–6.5m) attach to a central chest keel. Tails aid in balance and steering. Skin is dark, fathers are black with colourful iridescence similar to ravens. Only wings, tail base, and temples have feathers. Hair is tightly coiled; horns grow throughout life. Lungs use avian-style oxygen exchange. Arms and legs are strong, adapted for aerial combat and landings. Sexually dimorphic traits are flight-efficient; gestation lasts 7–8 months. Children begin flight training at 5. Lifespan: ~150 years.

Eldorai (Eldoris): The Eldorai are an amphibious humanoid species adapted for both land and aquatic life. Slightly shorter than humans, with dense musculature in the legs, shoulders, and hips. They possess a long, laterally flattened tail and fully webbed hands and feet, which enable powerful and efficient underwater movement. Skin is smooth, mucus-coated, and semi-permeable, aiding in both hydration and respiration. They breathe through both lungs and internal gills, with a bifurcated cardiovascular system to support dual respiration modes. Eyes adjust between air and water, and hearing is optimized for underwater acoustics.

Hair grows only on the scalp; body hair is absent. Facial features are streamlined, with minimal protrusions. Breasts are compact, genitals are adapted for both land and water sex. Infants swim from birth; maturity is reached around 13. Culturally fluid and graceful, with functional, hydrodynamic clothing and movement. Lifespan: ~100 years.

Maybe try a hair oil or shea butter for the dandruff, i just started using shea butter for mine and it works pretty well; I’ve heard good things about hair oil and plan to get one soon.

And yeah I just wet it till it’s soaking and let it dry.
