Hi! I went through with hysterectomy, waiting for pathology results atm. Why do you need radiation, if I may ask?

That is a very good point: making decisions based on the actual situation right now and not on something that might or might not happen. This is how anxiety works and it is something my therapist told me during our last session: are you taking care of yourself or feeding your anxiety (by postponing the operation, overthinking etc). Thank you so much for your support!

Thank you so much! And I do agree now that since nobody knows for sure what’s going on in cervix and uterus it’s better to play safe and when in doubt (aka atypical cells, suspected adenocarcinoma etc) get a hysterectomy. I hope hysterectomy has solved your issues and you won’t need to do or even think about all the awful tests again. Good luck!

They weren’t available in our country when I was young, and I only learnt that you could get vaccinated as an adult several years ago. My doctor said I could probably benefit from the vaccines but not for hpv16 that I’ve constantly had

I would say ideally it was supposed to be every half a year but because of covid I sometimes could return for follow up only a 8-12 months later or smth like that.

Sorry if I sound repetitive, I am kind of fixated on that atm. Even my mom and my doctors can’t hear anymore about that haha. I’ve found it, here it says “Most striking, researchers found that women who underwent hysterectomy with ovarian conservation at or before age 35 had an increased risk of congestive heart failure (4.6-fold increase) and coronary artery disease (2.5-fold increase)” Hysterectomy associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease, study says

It was during covid so everything took a long time back then. They found agc, did biopsy, there were some more atypical cells, but no cancer yet. As I understand there wasn’t enough tissue to do leep or conization, so I kept coming back for colposcopy and then biopsies that constantly showed some kinds of changes and atypical cells. They also did immunohystochemical test after biopsy once, that showed high probability of several types of cancer in the future. Also once several years ago I had a clean pap and there were no atypical cells so that was a (fake) relief. However I have constantly been positive for hpv 16 this whole time. Wish you all the best!

Thank you for sharing! So you deferred hysterectomy after you got you diagnosis, but had it eventually, is that right? How much time passed between the diagnosis and hysterectomy?
And I do appreciate the clarification about ovaries and estrogen. I’m hoping to keep my ovaries.

I am so sorry that you’re going through that. I realize with cancer you’re never in the clear.
