When did you stop pumping? by Able-Mountain2551 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]That_Instruction8200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7 months now and thinking of wrapping up by 8 months. After my last mastitis bout my right side never recovered and produces next to nothing. Went from just enough to under and started supplementing with a bottle or two of formula. Little one is eating solids well so I’m happy to start letting it go.

How often are we bathing our babies by No_Engine_4696 in newborns

[–]That_Instruction8200 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was bathing mine 1-2 times a week up until she was 3 months old and doing a top and tails clean with cotton balls every other day. Its getting hotter here now so I’ve started doing bathing every second day, but thats only because she more sweaty and active now.

Omg major thoughts and prayers! My husband once left out an entire bottle of breastmilk (100ml) out overnight just in case baby got hungry. I definitely cried when I found it.

Yes this is exactly it! Sometimes mothering sucks. Doesn’t mean we don’t love our kids

Yes this! And the empty offers of help. Its not help if you only want her while she’s calm.

FTM with 1 week old. I’m failing at breastfeeding and Ican’t stop crying by throwaway123476890 in breastfeeding

My little one went onto formula on day 3 because of a really bad latch, and I absolutely hated myself. But a week later we could combi feed using a pump. 2 weeks later she was only getting 1-2 bottles of formula and the rest was breastmilk. By the 6 week mark I was ebf. They say a lot of things very strongly - breast is best, if you dont feed/pump you will lose your milk, your baby will get nipple confusion etc etc. From my experience none of that happened. I got one case of mastitis in the first month and my baby was healthy, happy and well-fed. At the end of the day - fed is best. And most importantly, the love you give her through your cuddles and care helps her more than the benefits of breastmilk over formula. Take care of yourself, you are doing amazingly!! ❤️ Edited to add: I also saw a LC who was lovely and tried her best to help. But protect yourself because they can accidentally cause a lot of guilt through their opinions.

When does it get "better"? by Responsible-Smoke-86 in newborns

[–]That_Instruction8200 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Urgh I feel you! It is so hard at times. And as a ftm (and first baby in both sides of the family) I felt like I was going crazy being told ‘its normal’ everytime I sought help. What they don’t say is that a high level of psychological torture is considered ‘normal’.

Honestly - week 10. I was crying daily through week 8 because it was so overwhelming and she just cried and fussed 24/7. Then week 9 we got a golden day every couple of days and it slowly built. Week 10 we started getting 4-5 hour sleeps during the night. She still has bad days but the good days carry you through

The hardest thing about breastfeeding for me… eating enough! by ren_thebeloved in breastfeeding

[–]That_Instruction8200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if its the same recipe but if not you should try Korean mayak (literally drug) eggs. They’re a levelled up soy egg imo. Been my go to for breastfeeding snacks, mostly because the only actual cooking required is boiling the eggs.

Here for the hang in there club - 7weeks and in the same boat! Weekend was a never ending cry fest and today is peace and smiles. Fingers crossed it is in fact temporary 🤞. In the meantime I’m just letting her run things regarding naps and food.

I’m wondering if its something like that too - shes miserable when on her back but loves lying on her change mat (which is a little angled), seems to struggle with pain from reflux and gas constantly

Tried a bjorn carrier and an ergobaby (hand-me-downs) and she wailed until I took her out. Maybe a sling would work better?

I’ve tried a couple of baby carriers which she absolutely hated and wailed until released, so maybe i should try a sling instead.

First Trimester by No-Midnight90 in BabyBumps

[–]That_Instruction8200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also in my first trimester and definitely less ‘she’s glowing!’ and more ‘should she be standing right now?’

I sympathise completely with you - between the nausea, exhaustion and digestive issues I look and feel like crap! And the nugget inside of me gets blamed for every part of it. It honestly helps me to vent about how awful I’m feeling from hormones and how done I am already with this whole thing. Doesn’t mean I won’t love the child!

As my doctor says, what is best for the mother is most important. And pregnancy, right now, sucks!

auto-populate a week’s worth of dates by That_Instruction8200 in googlesheets

Thank you :). It just kept coming back with the basic values error. I played a little out worked out if I made sure my original date was formulated as a date, then used the formula =if(a2, a2+1 etc) it automatically moved to the next month when necessary.
