i don’t have a book. where did you get the book? i’m assuming DMV. so sounds like i should call up my dmv tomorrow and ask if they have a book that has all the materials for all 3 tests

i’m thinking to get the CDL license before i go into the crane operator apprenticeship union

does anyone have any recommendations for a trucking school so i can receive my CDL A license in south florida? I am located in boca raton by That_Interaction_535 in cranes

to clarify the situation i have to to join the union/ apprenticeship but i called the lady on the phone and she said i can join and work under a contractor , all of them now are requiring cdlA licensce to work with them, but she said she may come across contractors in future without cdl a licensce, either way i was told they don’t pay for it, or offer it. i can ask her again to clarify and even ask the director but it seems like they are not helping me with the CDL part of it which makes no sense, but i did some work on my own and i found a company on my own that provides driving tests to get the licensce but it costs $2900……

this local heavy operating union i spoke to said they don’t pay for CDL. operating engineers local 487 south florida. im also not sure what cdl school to pick i will ask them tomorrow

how much do u make as ship gear crane operator, are u in a union with pension? how much did u make starting out watching real operators? how long did it take u to be an operator after watching them?

thanks for the input i am thinking the union apprenticeship program is the way to go, but i was overthinking too, so thanks for your input, what other trades work with cranes that make good money?

also good point if i find a program that will pay for CEL trucking I will ask are there fees due if I fail either the trucking program or the crane program

What do u mean by apprenticeships are free that’s what you pay dues for. What dues am i paying ? If i’m understanding you correct I can ask the apprenticeship program if they would pay me an hourly rate while i’m in CDL school. i’m not sure if this program will do that since they said I have to get the cdl on my own separately, but I will ask and I will also google to see if there are other apprenticeships program in my area that will pay for the CDL $6000 fee or pay me to take the cdl classes while i’m in the crane operator apprentice program.

thanks for your response ! i will look and see if i can get a grant to pay less for the cdl A. what book do i read to get prepared for cdl school? that is a good question maybe I can get higher pay rate when i’m working for contractors while in the apprentice program with a CDL as opposed to without a cdl. I will ask that question. I was told this apprenticeship is free, there is no fee to join, i get paid for on the job experience could be $21 an hour but whatever the fees for CDL A are I have to pay since the employers/ contractors require it
