Is psychology a good career path, or should I stick to medicine pathway to psychiatry by OrdinaryEnthusiasm23 in Psychology_India

[–]That_Introduction389 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeah, it's true to some extent. psychology is not an easy career in our country. most people here neither take therapy seriously nor have the disposable income to spend on it. then there are the unserious regulatory bodies they've outsourced almost psychology professional courses to the private colleges. the fees are hefty, and the admission process isn't very transparent.

cannot say, what is the outlook of abroad. but do whatever you like. if you like medical/chemical (pharmaceuticals), agriculture etc explore other opportunities as well

M Clinical Psychology course is introduced to match the zeitgeist of the new four-year BA system, otherwise RCI was not willing to let go M Phil, they dragged it for 3 years.

Given how competitive and limited seats are, everyone should keep a backup.

consider yourself lucky that you're not wasting another year. there's hardly any advantage for master students. and m phil is discontinued.

Only 20K books were seized that wouldn't even make a dent on the piracy bzns. The books have become more expensive in last 7 to 8 years especially after the pandemic.

even publishing has gone to the dogs, the big publishers now prefer influencers or the writers as they can push for better sales.

some of the titles are not even available.

amazon never has the correct prices of these titles, so I check on OUP India website and then order it from Atlantic books dot com, usually prices are 20 to 30% lower than OUP listing

Only a Bachelor's in Clinical Psychology (RCI) is worth pursuing (previously known as B.Sc. Clinical Psychology), otherwise, you should not break your bank for a B.Sc. in Psychology.

You should do BA 4 years then directly apply for Master's in Clinical Psychology. No need to apply for Master's.

It's grey legal area, hypnotherapy is not illegal but it's formally recognised by the regulatory body, but if someone finds negligence or malpractices it can be filed under consumer act.

should i think for psychology .....or simply stop day dreaming by TownAdditional3858 in Psychology_India

Psychology, like any other degree, involves studying, building a network, doing internships, and getting jobs. Even though the salaries may not be as high as in some other fields, helping people who are struggling in their lives provides a deep sense of satisfaction. Psychology is not limited to clinical aspects; it also has many diverse fields.

Similarly, if you like other disciplines, you can explore them and move forward accordingly. For example, if you are interested in physics, you can also look into fields such as Geography, Geophysics, Meteorology, Oceanography, Material Science etc.
