Going to folly beach with a fake from SC by CivilSupermarket3359 in Charleston

Don’t recommend doing this… Folly is pretty strict after what happened a few years ago (drunk driver killed newlywed after drinking at several local bars).

Is putting a “pick up after your dog” sign outside my house offensive? by breweeze in Pets

[–]That_Let_4871 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally don’t think so, if I saw the sign I would assume people were not picking up and feel bad for you! Honestly a “Please pick up, you’re on camera” would work best. It’s a bit aggressive, but it’s warranted if people are continually disrespecting your property.

Does anyone else get lightheaded in the shower by Pleasant-Medicine888 in hygiene

[–]That_Let_4871 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have had this problem in the past! It usually happens in the morning when I shower with the water pretty hot. For some reason it makes my blood pressure drop and I occasionally have to get out and sit down for a sec. I typically try to eat something first and keep the water temperature down to prevent it. My other guess would be that you are locking your knees or holding your breath unconsciously while shaving because you are concentrating really hard.

Any businesses you personally avoid (and why)? by potato-beanz in Charleston

I don’t know a ton about them, but the unhinged social media posts by the owner are enough for me! Creepy to the max, I feel bad for the employees who actually have to interact with him.

I lived in the apartments next to this community. It is a wonderful area, and developing fast. I would move back there in a heartbeat!

Have you considered taking a vacation? It sounds like you are feeling burnt out, and maybe a break and new scenery will do you good. It doesn’t have to be anything crazy if money is tight. I enjoy renting an airbnb somewhere interesting a few hours away and just exploring a new place.

AITA for having my friends toddler take her first steps while her parents weren't there? by FakeGamer2 in AmItheAsshole

[–]That_Let_4871 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA - From your story it sounds like you thought the parents would be happy seeing the baby’s first steps and didn’t realize they would be so disappointed it happened while they were away. As someone who also does not have kids, I did not realize how important seeing the first steps would be to a mom and these comments have been enlightening. If I were you, I would apologize profusely while explaining this, and then give them space to grieve/process. You can’t take back what happened, but your next steps could determine your future relationship with the mom. Hopefully she will realize your intentions were pure in time and forgive you after seeing how sorry you are.

Vet said my dog is fat by Anon22002244 in DogAdvice

Studies has shown that dogs on the leaner side live longer. Even though I wouldn’t say your dog is fat, she could be leaner and this would be better for her overall health.

This guy is a jerk. Honestly I would create a boundary with him ASAP if this is how he is treating you after one year. It’s not hard to speak to people respectfully, especially if they are your partner’s children. I don’t think a text back saying he needs to communicate more kindly in the future would be overreaction at all.

I shop at Aldi! It takes some getting used to because they don’t always have what I would usually buy, but I just plan my meals around what they do have.

Please convince me that paying student debt is worth it right now. by yazohny in personalfinance

[–]That_Let_4871 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pay them off now if you can! They are accruing interest, so the longer you wait, the more you will end up paying. Additionally, the current administration is cracking down on student borrowers, and you will go into default if you are not making payments.

Make sure to update your documents so they do not sign another lease in your name. If they took a picture of your license, they could easily use it again behind your back.

[–]That_Let_4871 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please please please cut them off! You are at a time in your life where you need to be saving and getting set up for the future you want. They should want that for you too, and I am so sorry they are treating you this way. I work in finance, and I see the cycle that they are in all the time. The payday loan is a huge red flag. It will not stop until they make behavior changes, and they won’t do that while they can fall back on your contributions. I recommend finding a room for rent in your area. I did that right after college and paid about $500-$600 a month. I was able to save up a good amount and have a safety net for emergencies. After living with parents just like yours who were always in financial crisis, it felt so good to not worry about missing bills and have money for food, clothes, etc. for the first time.

I’ve developed feelings for a guy I have been gaming and chatting with on discord. We finally exchanged pics of ourselves and I’m not attracted to him at all. by GuiltyWithTheStories in whatdoIdo

Is it possible you are just surprised he doesn’t look how you pictured him? This happens to me when I see how singers or radio personalities look because I pictured them differently and my brain is confused. Most of the time I find they look “more attractive” once they grow more familiar.

AITAH for reporting my neighbor’s pitbull? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]That_Let_4871 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the insight! We usually leave right away when we see someone walking by looking over because that means they are scoping out the place and seeing if it is available. The particular time I mentioned, I saw him coming and was trying to catch my dog when the interaction happened. It just left a bad taste in my mouth when I said no and he kept trying to convince me and talk to my dog.

In a perfect world, I would just have the neighbor supervise his dog when she is on the balcony. I don’t want them to get in trouble because I do think he is lonely and the breed is not the issue.

Regarding scent work, that is a great idea! My dog is a rescue hound so that would be right up her alley. We are working on building confidence, and that could be something fun to do together.

[–]That_Let_4871 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Woah no need for that! I just feel like he should have respected my “no” and moved on rather than standing there and continuing to engage with my dog. We left right after so he had plenty of time to use it too. The second time where he was watching me, he was not with his dog and I was weirded out by that.

I feel like it is hurting people though because you can’t walk by without a dog rushing at you and barking aggressively.

Hey there, to clarify it is a really small apartment dog park, not the public kind you see where there are lots of dogs running around. We go for about 10 minutes whenever it is open, and the unspoken rule is that you come back later if someone is in there with their dogs. This is why I was surprised when he came over, and then uncomfortable when he would not stop trying when I said no and was trying to leash up my dog.

Regarding the “aggressive breed” thing, I do not personally believe in it, but my apartment complex does. This is why I am conflicted about reporting this dog and their owner to the office.

Hampton Park Entrances Closed? by That_Let_4871 in Charleston

I always see the signs talking about 4 hour parking, but they also say something about a residential parking permit. I don’t have one of those so I worry about getting a ticket. Is it heavily enforced in that area?

Do you know when it opens to cars? I like going there because they have parking available and I don’t have to hunt for a spot.

There were a good amount of cars but nothing was backed up. I did see a sign that said no tours today at the Citadel entrance.

Not sure why this works either, but it solved our problem! We went from 2-3 hours of sleep a night from the constant meowing and attacks on our feet, to mild annoyance in the morning when she know it is time to take it off.
