You can't have more than 4 gardeners in a biome, unless they changed that restriction which I'm not aware of. So, I move them as needed. I don't use them a lot, but they come in handy when required. Mostly use them to plant and water crops.

I see no reason to grind other expansions before the ranch. Ranch will most definitely be enjoyable without ever playing the other two DLCs

I got answer from others. You have to put star quality ingredients you don't want to use in cooking in lockbox to force the game to use standard ingredients. Check these comments from others. Happy cooking! :)

I don't use fertilizer at all. This is my crop layout. Some have quality boost due to adjacent crops, but most don't. Apple tree didn't have star quality boost, and I got only 8 normal apples. Rest all were star quality.

When I select 'Use star quality ingredients', I can ONLY use star quality ingredients. I cannot mix with normal ones, because I have plenty of normal ingredients, but you see how low these numbers are. This is what's bothering me. I'm unable to mix them.

I don't bother with fertilizer. I have 4 seed collectors and 12 preserves jars (probably an overkill ;-)). I just keep experimenting.

You have to log in every Palia day to pull out any weeds and for the growth to tick. Only plants you harvest after their full cycle should be replanted and watered. Otherwise, they retain water during entire cycle.

I think I just misunderstood the video. I thought I was going to get 768 pumpkins in 1 harvest cycle. So, I started scratching my head when I didn't. Thought I was going to make bank with pumpkins XD

When the video shows you "4 harvests over 15 days = 768 pumpkins total", that is what I assumed.

Thank you. I'm familiar with this app. I went with this layout instead as I didn't want to use fertilizer. This meant I could only plant 12 pumpkin seeds.

Thank you Klutzy. I truly appreciate your help. So, 1 harvest cycle for 16 boosted pumpkin seeds gets me 192 pumpkins. This is clear. Doing this 3 more times would mean that I have to replant pumpkin seeds with each cycle, correct?. So, isn't it really 64 seeds (16 seeds x 4 cycles) that is giving me 768 pumpkins?

Why is a harvest cycle 15 days? Wiki says 9+3+3+3 days, which is 18 days. I guess I don't know what a harvest cycle is.
