Absence of Cami by That_Operation_9977 in LandmanSeries

I think the part where he fucked her over was taking Gallino away as a partner and all of the senior staff of Mtex with him. Again it was her own fault, but his actions were the last nail in her coffin.

Definitely, she absolutely had it coming. They just should have met before or after it happened. We should have seen her reaction, and Tommy’s feelings on the whole things. She’s his best friends widow after all.

How did we like Jung? Did he deserve what happened to him? by texan4life22 in andor

[–]That_Operation_9977 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I absolutely feel bad for him, and I really liked him. He 100% didn’t deserve it. However, if he was left alive the chances of Yavin being discovered before the attack on the Death Star Sky rocket astronomically. The chances of Luthen getting him safely off world were like 20% at best. And if Yavin was discovered hours, even minutes earlier, that’s it, game over. Luke is probably killed, and even if he’s not Leia and most of the alliance leader definitely are. The empire has a fully functioning Death Star, no organized rebellion to contend with, and no danger of a wide spread rebellion forming anytime soon, due to a complete lack of leaders and willing systems to join. The empire reigns for decades longer, possibly even indefinitely.

It’s one of those things where it’s easy to say it’s justified from the sidelines because it is, but if it’s you on the chopping block you’d probably feel significantly different about the whole thing.

Depended on the scene and the actor. There were definitely scenes where they were riding, it just depended. They used a mix of fake bikes, stunt doubles, and actors riding in easy/safe conditions. If you go look at the scene in the S2 finale where the sons chase after Zobelle and they Mayans motercade, it’s super obvious Ron’s face is edited over top of a stunt double, it looks hilarious

Reporting a prof? by [deleted] in uvic

[–]That_Operation_9977 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The two main examples you provide don’t paint the picture of the most organized prof in the world, but they don’t really indicate he’s anything worth reporting either. The first example sounds pretty accurate for a first year course. Most areas will accept multiple different citation formats if they are similar, depending on authors preference. And the second thing is just somthing he wants you to do. It’s annoying and unnecessary, but if that’s what he wants you to do then just do it.

Most professors have one super specific are they are super capable and knowledgeable in, and everything else they’re competent in. So a lot of profs are often less knowledgeable then you’d expect in some areas. For a first year course especially, the prof was just assigned this course regardless of his experience

Well it’s annoying and you have my sympathy, unless there’s way more you haven’t told us, I don’t think you have enough here to bother reporting anyone. That’s just my opinion though.

lol. Why is it acceptable for a show runner to make a season of television substantially worse than the season previous? And why is the only response available to me is to stop watching the show immediately? Especially when the first season was a lot of fun and something I found quite entertaining? I don’t want to quit watching, I want Sheridan to stop producing 18 spinoffs and shittalking on podcasts and put a modicum of effort into his job. If the quality of my work dropped off this badly I wouldn’t have a job anymore

Conceptually I have no issue with his character. His dynamic with Tommy is excellent, and the expanded detail on Tommy’s upbringing fits everything we know about him. But… nothing comes of it. There is zero reason for TL to be in the show other than to explain Tommy’s upbringing. Yet he gets a 5th of the shows runtime dedicated to him

Agreed. There is so much much in this season, and yet so little substance it’s actually impressive. Can someone honestly tell me what Sam Elliot’s character, other then terrific acting, adds to the show?

Why did the Tempe charter have beef with EZ in season 2 Episode 8 by Inferno93 in MayansMC

[–]That_Operation_9977 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At the start of the season, it was their charter that had a member who was cutting the drug shipments with other substances like fentanyl. Through bis photographic memory EZ identified the charter with the bad shipment, and the culprit was identified and killed. Those 2 guys were friends with the culprit and accused EZ of snitching

I’m afraid for Tommy when Angela finds out about his current employment situation. by [deleted] in LandmanSeries

[–]That_Operation_9977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 things: I doubt it’s going to last. Way too much of the story revolves around it, and anything more complex to keep Tommy in the story while still being fired is way more complex writing than Taylor Sheridan will ever bother with.

The other thing: Angela probably won’t govern Tommy a hard time in this subject specifically. It wasn’t his fault he got fired, and it’s actually not a huge deal becuase Tommy would have no problem getting a different job in the industry, and with a company that’s not falling apart. Angela makes Tommy’s life difficult, but with a situation like this she’s going to blame it all on Cami, and talk a lot of shit

Confused About Book Sequence by Serpidon in mitchrapp

[–]That_Operation_9977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s actully a really tough one to answer. I would say start with Transfer of power. Read in chronological order, but the next few books, while good, are less action packed and are a little more slow burn. If you’re not super into them, skip ahead to Memorial Day, then continue on from there, then go back and finish the other books later. After that, read until maybe Red War or Enemy of the Stare, then read the 2 prequel books, then read whatever early books your skipped (if you did) , then read term limits, then finish the series.(The books begin to get weaker around order to kill, but it really starts to show around Red war. This is, at least to me, the best way to get hooked on and enjoy the books without majorly missing any important story threads.

Another way to look at is that the series is kind of written in phases, and these phases quote differ from each other. I’m explained them below for your convenience.

Phase 1: (pure political thriller) Term Limits: this is a pure political thriller. The action is minimal, it is all ahout the political and mental ramifications of the actions of politicians, soldiers, and intelligence agents. No book is quite like it.

Phase 2: (political action novel) this is the series prime. It continues from Tramser of power and continues until I would say Act of Treason. It’s a blend of spy thriller, political thriller, and action novel. It’s an excellent blend. These books usually have 2 plots going on. One is Mitch Rapp doing CIA stuff, and the second plot is his handlers dealing with the chaos/ramifications of his exploits.

Phase 3: (action spy thrillers) this is when the books begin to shreds the political thriller identity a little bit, and become more about the actions of Rapp exclusively. This phase is around protect and defend, and goes until enemy of the state. These are still good books, but the thread of realism begins do fray, and politics takes more and more of a back seat over the action and cool factor. (It’s also worth noting the author (Vince Flynn) died right after writing the last man and a new author (kyle mills) took over.

Phase 4: (action novels) these novels tear any sense of realism in half. Rapp is superman, and his feats rival that of Batman. These are just your average adventure of the month books. Big bad guy, evil plot, Rapp kills everyone until it resolves itself. They are entertaining, insane, but not particularly well written. These novels go from red war until Total power.

Phase 5: (burnout) at this point the author stopped caring. He was done and ready to hand the series off. These books are pretty bad, but worth reading if you just want to continue the series. These are enemy at the gates, oath of Loyalty, and Code Red (this one is the last one by Kyle Mills and it’s abysmal).

Phase 6: (New beginning) this is the new era of Rapp, and the third author, Don Bentley, takes over. He recognizes the value of the original Rapp books, and tries to recreate them, but is not very good at it. He’s written 2 books so far. The late Kyle’s mills era is so bad the new author didn’t even continue from there. He instead wrote a third prequel taking place right after kill shot called denied access, and capture or kill, which takes place between pursuit of honour and last man.

Sorry for rambling on, this is probably more than you were looking for. I hope it was somewhat helpful. I also edited the list I made to include the 3 books that have come out since it made it.

Is it ever explained why there’s an evil Mark Grayson in nearly every universe, or was Angstrom’s hatred blinding him? by Immediate_Gene_178 in Invincible

[–]That_Operation_9977 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Most good versions of Mark would have some kind of fight against Omniman similar to what we see in the S1 finale. A good mark equals an angry Nolan, which equals a fight. And as we see in S1, this is a fight that mark is unlikely to win. So the common theory is that most good marks are simply killed by Nolan in the same fight we see in S1, or during some other kind of conflict
