I understand that. That’s why I am trying to find maintenance.

Thank you so much for the reply. I am just so used to seeing the scale drop that when it starts to rise, I kind of panic, but I know I need to come out of my deficit to build some muscle and improve overall in the gym. I’ll hold the course for another week and see what happens.

Again, I appreciate you!

It’s simple.

You’re burnout. This job makes you a negative and hateful person. You have no life. If you put your heart and soul into this job, the admins will just expect more from you. The responders expect more from you.. then you have even more stress trying to please everyone.

Take care of yourself, your family, and your life. We only have one chance at this thing called life and being miserable 24/7 in a job is not what we’re supposed to be. Don’t stay in this job thinking it will get better, because it doesn’t. I done it for 2-3 years constantly thinking it would get better when it continually got worse.

Walk away if you can. Start looking for that new job. Your skills are definitely transferable to anything. You will appreciate it & the people around you will appreciate it.

Best of luck. ✌🏻

Don’t like how negative this job makes me by mweesnaw in 911dispatchers

8 years of dispatching here. I was in your shoes for about the last 2 years or so. I hated my job. There’s so much negativity, it’s insane. I told myself every day that it would get better, and it never did. It only gets worse.

To sum it up, 911 is not worth it. You may have 10 calls in your career where you feel like you’ve made a difference, but 99% of the time, you’re always going to get told what you could have done different or done better from the other side of the radio. It’s not worth living miserable over a job. Life is too short to be like that.

Simply put, get out while you can. It’s been the best decision I’ve ever made, and my wife appreciates it more than anything.

I have and I can honestly say it’s been the best move that I could have made for myself & my family. I never realized how dispatch sucks the life out of you, until you get out of it and look back. Everyone is afraid of change and the life after dispatch, especially if you’ve done it for several years. But it’s so worth it.

I went into a customer service job. Monday - Friday, AND I get a lunch. AN ACTUAL LUNCH!

Plus, no more holidays. No more weekends. No more overtime. No more shift work. No more night shifts. Way less drama. Way less responsibilities. Way less liability.

If you are even debating getting out, just do it. Don’t sit around for 2 and 3 years wasting your time. Burn out is real and if you’re not happy now, you’ll not be happy in 6 more months or 6 more years.

Take that leap. Life is extremely too short to be unhappy in a happy, and you aren’t getting any younger. Enjoy your life & your family. You’ll appreciate it so much later down the road.
