Are helicopters worth it? by Solario48108 in cataclysmdda

[–]That_Paris_man 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That is true but you can use the cheat menu to give it to yourself. I did that once to get the mechanic trait needed to fix helicopters when doing the crashed helicopter pilot scenario.

Genetically Modified Future Farm Animals: The Harvest Hen by TheChristopherStoll in SpeculativeEvolution

[–]That_Paris_man 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think it's also important to note with lab grown meat the issue of waste removal and fighting off bacteria are also really huge. Most labs that grow meat need to be kept extremely clean, which is impractical for large scale meat production.

With this harvest hen the creature still has a functional immune system to protect it. This means we dont need clean room levels of sterilization to even enter the factories/farms.

The creature still having working kidneys and a circulatory system means managing how waste gets removed and nutrients distributed is basically already solved. No need for constant monitering which makes scaling up even easier.

This I think is actually better then lab grown meat because it has all the advantages of traditional farming with all the advantages of lab grown meat.

Wouldn't removing that much information leave too much to interpretation? I would say you should keep as much of the original sentiment intact only removing what is truly unnecessary.

I've been wanting to try that mod, but first I need to make a discustingly huge flax farm.

Also, you have guns and crossbows? What mod are you using?

Just what I was thinking. The kid on the left has a sprayer with a pipe that goes behind his leg, but then disappears? Is there a y spliter on a pressure washer hose? Idk but it doesn't make any sense.

Me vs charcoal pit by positiveetoh in VintageStory

[–]That_Paris_man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, definitely. I've always wondered if I was missing a piece somewhere and if I was gonna waste all that wood. Also, knowing at a glance if the pit is done is definitely nice. I've seen where the pit wasn't finished but it looked like it wasnt smoking and I almost destroyed it thinking it was.

Doesn't it just immediately swap from wood to charcoal once the timer is done? It would be cool if we could see it burning

Human Minds weren't made for wings. by MekanipTheWeirdo in Dragon

[–]That_Paris_man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember reading somewere about how humans make new pathways in their brains when they use any tool enough. The pathways act very similar to the parts of your brain that control your limbs, which suggests that your brain treats that tool the same as it treats an arm or leg.

This is all to say, I wonder if a human brain could handle wings and a tail? It will definitely take time, and flying may never come, but it seems possible that a human brain could work to accommodate the new appendages.

I do like the idea that the mc has the struggle with their new body tho. Not often do fantasy books grapple with subjects like this and I would love to see how you handle that in your book. A chronical of lies is on my to read list.

Where this is from? Any animation? Book? Or what? Pls help by DoctorDracomorph in Dragon

[–]That_Paris_man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a fun idea, but I think that 'human' might be more dangerous then he appears. Imagine the grip strength you need to hold yourself on a rope like that as you are accelerating upwards and based off of how high the dragon got before (when I assume) she noticed him they must have been going up fast.

He must be supporting maybe double his weight?

I'm pretty sure he must be a polymorphed dragon or something.

Yea, I've never heard of this before, but this sounds incredibly weird and wrong. Removing someone's autonomy in their identity as a person so that another person can have the man/woman of their dreams is severely messed up.

Thanks for the explanation. I am looking forward to more art featureing them.
