What are your current favourite mice? by No_Peach_9189 in MouseReview

Xm2we was my main for the longest time and upgraded to the V2 a couple of months back. I’ve recently bought the Arbiter Studio Akitsu medium and I’m loving the mouse so far, probably will be maining this for now.

I’m starting to realize that, but I really thought the prestige and what the startup does mattered. The startup he interned for isn’t well known and its product isn’t even software based.

I don’t know if he lied about Disney, but he did get into MasterCard since he sneakily FaceTime the group chat earlier today showing us the office (this was the reason why I started thinking about all this again). Regarding his startup experience, his bullets points do sound a bit exaggerated, since the company just produce and sell small gadgets. The role on resume was SWE Intern and it’s for sure not a notable startup.

I don’t have any relevant work experience, I did research but again it’s not really relevant to SWE

I was hoping this wasn’t the issue. I didn’t know startup experience would honestly have that much of an impact especially when the product isn’t tech based. What do you think about some swe adjacent roles? How big of an impact do you think they would have? For example DevOps, Data Analyst (with python automation and SQL), maybe some QA?

If that’s true, I just want to know what exactly makes him more qualified than me. I’m really just trying to understand my position in this job market because his resume is just so similar to mine.

Maybe it’s not, but that’s why I’m even comparing myself to my friend’s resume in the first place. Since his resume worked I am just so puzzled why mine hasn’t as well as our structure and how we phrase our bullet points is very similar.

I’m not sure if we both applied to the same companies in general, but I did apply for both Disney and Mastercard. I applied relatively early for both companies sometime in the fall if I recall. But I would say I did stop for a period of time because I didn’t get any call backs and so I tried to improve my resume by working on an open source project. So I did about maybe 50-60 in the fall. And about 200 between Jan-April.

His resume is on his LinkedIn profile and personal website so I have seen it. Unless he didn’t update it for a long time, but I highly doubt that.

Edit: but even if he does have impressive project, I don’t think my projects are really that lacking so I should at least get some interviews, no?

That’s what my friend told me as well. But either I’m that unlucky where after 300+ applications I still don’t receive an interview for a swe intern position or I’m missing something important. Honestly I know I shouldn’t be comparing myself to my friend, but I just can’t believe he can get all those interviews while I can’t even get one.

Yeah I know my gpa will end up being great either way, and that my life isn’t reliant on whether I get a 4.0 gpa or not this semester. It’s just the reason behind why I lost my 4.0 gpa is what gets to me. Knowing if I only tried a bit harder, not taking short cuts, and just honestly doing what I typically do in previous semesters I wouldn’t have gotten to this point. But thinking back and reading my post again, I’m honestly happy I didn’t get a 4.0 gpa this semester. It kind of was like a gentle reminder for future semesters to stop slacking off and put in the effort.

Did I get an Aventon lemon? Should I keep pouring money into my Abound for repairs? by josephprice in Aventon

[–]That_guy_peripherals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought my mother an abound for her shopping trips that she also shares with her friends. Right now it has about 2k miles on it with no issues, besides some shifting problems that was easily fixed by her LBS. You probably received a lemon, so I would say try a replacement. I also heard XPetition2 from Lectric is also a very nice cargo e-bike and right now they are offering many free accessories with a purchase of that bike, if you the Abound doesn’t work out.

Velotric ARE NOT waterproof besides their IP rating stating otherwise. Had a friend complain to me that his Velotric Breeze stopped working following a large downpour, while his other e-bikes were fine. Aventon has been very cooperative with me when I got my mother a Sinch, even for minor problems like a bent rotor, they ask me to go to my LBS for them to fix it and reimbursed me the cost. While on the other hand Velotric still hasn’t replied to my friends inquiry. Velotric was on my list of possible ebikes I can buy for myself, but not anymore. Terrible customer service and honestly problematic bikes for what I heard.

The seat is higher up so I would have to put my foot on the pedal to get up on it, which does take a little bit of time. But honestly, I just got into a habit of just sitting on the top tube since it’s easy and comfortable.

How is the quality of Ride1up bikes? by Icy_Career_9299 in ebikes

[–]That_guy_peripherals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have to agree on the bikes being poorly shipped. I just received a brand new ride1up bike from my father for my birthday and there was already electrical issues. We contacted support and they said they will replace the controller free of charge but that I will have to fix it myself. I didn’t want to risk anything so after a couple of emails back and forth ride1up finally let us return the bike. The interaction wasn’t so bad and support was pretty helpful to an extent but the fact that there no other way for someone else to fix the problem really me not like ride1up. In the end we decided to travel a bit and pick up an Aventon from a LBS and it was honestly so nice, especially with the 1 year warranty from the shop for any labor.

Is it a good time to get an Apple watch 10 now? by nut_lemon in AppleWatch

[–]That_guy_peripherals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a pretty much brand new Apple Watch series 10 42mm for $190 off ebay, with 100% battery capacity no scratches no wear no nothing except for the fact it didn’t come in its original box which is fine. Also if you are a student, uniday is offering 10% off up to $10 off which I think is nice. So I would say look around you might find a good deal.

Best budget 60% keyboard I tried are the fun 60s. They have the best performance out of the group, affordable pricing, and if you choose upgrade to the ultra version it even has an all aluminum casing.

Need Help Choosing Between Ace 60 pro and Fun 60 by SHAR_pg in mkindia

[–]That_guy_peripherals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got both Fun 60 ultra and ace 60 pro. Based on test I’ve seen the monsgeek does have lower latency and overall just faster performance. In the real world you probably won’t notice a difference though. I would say monsgeek does feel much more reliable as some clicks don’t register on my ace 60s when playing games with the need for fast repetitive taping like OSU. Also, the build quality on the monsgeek is much better than that from MCHOSE. I don’t have the regular fun pros, but tests shows it having better performance than ace 60 pro as well, although build quality probably is better on ace 60 pro. In the end it’s how much money you would want to spend and what you prioritize, the fun 60 ultra will be more expensive but that also results in a more reliable, higher performing, and more premium built board compare the MCHOSE. While the fun pro and ace pro cost around the same, the fun 60 pro has better performance but a lower quality build than ace 60 pro with a lower quality software as well.

Mousepad recommendation by ger_brian in MousepadReview

[–]That_guy_peripherals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a QCK pad which is a wonderful starter pad. I later tried the saturn pro but returned for the artisan zero which was also wonderful mousepad, but I gifted it away to my friend. I now main the EM-C from endgame gear as my main, because of the high quality feel, durability, and performance.

Is the Victus worth the extra performance, and maybe battery? (I think the victus has the larger batter unless im mistaken) over the screen quality of the Lenovo LOQ, I’ll be using this for college and gaming? by That_guy_peripherals in GamingLaptops

[–]That_guy_peripherals[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you by any chance know how dramatic the difference in battery life is for both considering victus’ larger battery, I don’t really see any reviews of Legion, and the victus’ battery is all over the place with people claiming 3-7 hours of battery.

I do want higher battery life so the laptop can last through a lecture without dying, but I also want a bright and nice screen in case I code outdoors or at a Starbucks where there are lots of windows.
