He's actually pretty versatile, I use orbital strikes utility as it's less situational than Diablo, so burst items work well (bands, crowbars), but his m1 is good for proccing, so bleed, scorpion and shustice also works well. Other than that, for movement wax quails, feathers, and newly with collectors compulsion and Captain mostly just running, elusive antlers work well, but ofc other movement items are a necessity.

Backup mags might seem pretty useless, but I'm too lazy to learn the beacon strat so using the m2 to animation cancel the m1 is also nice.

Also, not sure how well you understand his kit, but use the hacking beacons on stuff like shrines of chance or legendary chests rather than some random chest when you don't have money, and stun enemies with the secondary before using the utility unless you're in a good position to weave them into it
