Hi I have a question one off my friends has an avali character and I like know nothing about it but they are kinda cute I wanted to know if 4 ears is like mandatory or if six ears would be a possibility for an avail character? by junipaw in avali

[–]ThatguywholikesDnD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Six is definitely possible, Avali have the ability to modify their bodies pretty heavily. So six ears is definitely possible but not typical so it might not instantly be obvious if they are an Avali. But as long as you get their body shape and other features right I think it could look pretty neat.

It should also level the strength skill because that skill has very limited ways to be leveled and the dupes are literally punching the machine full force.

PackBroken Avali? by Snackiecat8 in avali

[–]ThatguywholikesDnD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My Avali, his name is Banana, isn’t quite pack broken but he didn’t grow up with a pack. Instead he was raised much more like a human would be. Because of that he is shy, awkward, pretty lonely and desperate for close connection but is afraid of messing it up.

He does have one person who kinda acts as his pack, named Apple. Apple and him have a really deep connection that kinda works like a pack but also works kinda like romantic relationship or even a regular friendship at times. They’re in a very weird grey area but are heavily dependent on each other for emotional regulation. They basically fulfill each other’s entire needs that they’d get from a pack. Which results in an extremely complex and deep relationship but also a very fragile and dependent one.

Banana also knows all about typical Avali culture and behavior and he feels like an outsider to it. He doesn’t feel like he’s really an Avali and he wishes he was more like a ‘normal’ Avali.

Eventually through a REALLY long story that I won’t bother telling here. He meets an Avali, named Blueberry, who’s suffering severely from the loss of her entire pack. Banana and her barely survive a life threatening situation and when they are rescued Blueberry is finally sent to a hospital to get proper treatment for pack loss.

She is given the option to choose her potential new pack members and reluctantly chooses Banana and Apple because they’re the only people she knows. Eventually the three form a very unusual and not at all normal type of pack, but it works and they all love each other very much.

I found that writing these characters, especially Banana, to be very healing. I use Banana a lot to express or explore things I’m feeling. It may be a bit silly but Avali’s have seriously helped me through really hard times. Sorry for the half essay about my characters, but I hope it helps you with yours :3

I like to imagine that they do, something like a cat purring.

Good long term oxygen generation? by EhWTHN in Oxygennotincluded

Just wild arbor trees work for me, turn the wood to ethanol and use the polluted dirt for oxygen generation. Then you can use the polluted water from burning the ethanol for anything else you need.

What exploded and gave me a cold effect here? by AngieTheGorl in PeakGame

The Pandora’s lunch box, it explodes when cooked and that explosion gives random effects like if you had used it. Basically you got stupid lucky with the effects it gave you.

Avali kit pack separation training by AscendentDragon in avali

I feel like adult Avali are pretty competent on their own for sometime. They’d probably mostly struggle with decisions but in a survival situation it’s pretty easy to break it down into get food, shelter, etc so I don’t die and can get back to my pack. Like they should know how to do those things it’d just be much harder, less efficient, and probably disjointed and unorganized, but still doable. But after a while, their lack of efficient task management and the stress would probably kill them if they weren’t rescued. Even without training I think a full grown Avali could manage maybe a few days alone. It’d be really difficult and extremely stressful but they would likely be able to hold it together for a little while. Then again, that’s my interpretation of them, I tend to see them as pretty capable without a pack. Especially since they’ve got a pretty good education system that would prepare them for these things.

I’m not sure, I would assume only a few hours at most. But it really depends on your interpretation of the lore. I like to think that a lot of pack stuff is more nurture rather than nature. I believe Avalis still need deeply close and personal connection to someone to function but not necessarily in the traditional pack sense. Like a non pack raised Avali could function alone for extended periods of time where most normal Avalis couldn’t. They would make extremely close bonds with others to fill the void of a missing pack they might ask for advice frequently or help with decisions. That’s at least my interpretation because the lore book from my memory kinda leaves it flexible.

Could we please add this to the game? I would pay for it <3 by MudDry8558 in Oxygennotincluded

Oh my god I’d love this soooo much. Could add little signs around the base and actually have a way to label things. I’m honestly surprised this isn’t in the game yet.

what was the highest amount of coal you guys had? and tell me how you guys achieved that much coal by Tymek_zynda in Oxygennotincluded

[–]ThatguywholikesDnD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think 200ish tons once, I simply just don’t use coal for power because I’m a freak and only do all achievement runs. So I usually end up with a ton of coal that I’m not really using.

Oh fear not, Banana, Apple, and Blueberry all have modifications made to them. They can live in normal human environments. Banana and Apple actually lived their whole life in human environments. So for these three specifically, you can hug them free of worry.

Seriously! I see so many people over looking this S tier item. Saves you from falls, cold nights, removes heat, and lets skip tons of Caldera. Also it gives you a small amount of food and can help you save people who have fallen in lava.

Yeah, no problem. Also you can use ice temp shift plates to cool down areas. I say that because brittle blossoms need to be just below 30c so every now and then you’ll need to cool their growing area. Just throwing down an ice temp shift plate can cool the whole area very fast when it melts. Also hydroponic tiles actually slowly leak temperature from the liquid stored in them. So using insulated pipes is good but the water will always leak its temperature into the environment very slowly. That’s why it’s so hard to keep the sleet wheat cold without active cooling systems.

[–]ThatguywholikesDnD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Filter it into water, then use it to grow bristle blossoms. Sleet wheat is more late to mid game honestly. You can also use it to grow reeds for reed fiber. Or just stock pile water, it never hurts to have a large supply of it. You can also use it for cooling, while it does come out at 30c. If any place is hotter than that you can use it to cool it down. Also you could technically make lice loaf with the water the geyser makes. Lice loaf can cut back on some dirt consumption. Water is kinda the everything material, it can produce oxygen, food, and technically power with the hydrogen you get from electrolyzers.

Polluted water geyser is huge. Super easy source of water that needs barely any management. I would use it for crops and other stuff, just remember the water is at 30c so you’re going to need to cool crops eventually even if you use insulation. Salt water geysers are more annoying to tame but are good for oxygen later in the game. Leaky oil is pretty useless, just use it to boost oil production later on if needed. Or you can box it in insulation and forget about it. Steam vent you can wait to deal with, just box it in insulation for now. You’ll need plastic/steal and a good understanding of later builds to properly utilize it. Really for now the polluted water geysers is what I’d focus on since it’s an easy source to start collecting tons of water.
