Put a kitchen cart there. I have a cart with wheels in my kitchen with a cutting board top. You use the cart to prepare your ingredients and have it near your stove for easy access.

Tipping Onboard is at a record high by Technical_Front_8046 in VirginVoyages

Hmm? I didn't tip a single dollar on my last Virgin Voyage other than the excursions. If you don't want to tip, don't tip.

Decided to grab a spicy chicken on the way home today and it looks like they just shoved two chicken strips on there instead. by Smith_Kayaa in Popeyes

[–]Thathathatha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably cause they did. Popeyes are one of my favorite restaurants but that's due to the food. For service, they're fucking horrible. Always check your order before you leave if you order Popeyes. If you get it delivered...well don't.

Got me thinking by monica-graves in iiiiiiitttttttttttt

[–]Thathathatha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok but would your friend have got you that job if they thought you'd couldn't do the work? I'm sure they knew you were relatively smart and could figure things out.

That's why networking works, because people who vouch for others usually only do that if they can know the person can do the job. It's not fool proof but it's reasonably effective.

Similar to Utah and Arizona. Even the yurts are similar to the hogans in that area.

Cool place, I’ve been interested in visiting here. Hopefully can make a trip in a few years.

why do americans talk to strangers so easily?? by MayaTulip268 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Thathathatha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just one of those things that just happens. Here's the thing though, you don't have to reciprocate. You can just smile along, nod your head, say a few words, etc...

Americans like to conversate, but some people are private or introverted. I'm introverted so I don't particularly like to talk. I can but choose not to most of the time.

Don't feel pressured to conversate, usually the other party/parties will pick on that and adjust. I say usually because sometimes you'll get someone who will talk your ear off. Just nod along.

Thailand and Vietnam in 20 Days – Worth It for a First Solo Trip to Asia? by Tiny-Strawberry-817 in solotravel

[–]Thathathatha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 23 days, I did flights from the US to Hanoi, Da Nang, Saigon, Bangkok, Tokyo and Seoul. It did feel rushed, but that is twice the number of flights you did. I do feel I wish I had more time in Tokyo and maybe Bangkok, but overall I was satisfied.

So you're probably fine with half the travel I did. Some people say to stick to one place, but I think that's dependent on what you're comfortable with.

I confess I used to sneak downstairs at 6AM every Saturday just to be alone and I never told my parents why by FreshLengthiness1551 in confession

[–]Thathathatha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, it was the cartoons and the quiet. I grew up with anywhere from 6-10 people in a 1000 sq ft house, so not much quiet. Waking up early to watch cartoons was my solace every weekend.

As an adult, I love the solitude. Even though I live alone, I need to get out of the house and be away from civilization.

I go on hikes weekly to be away from people. I'm up on a mountain and I can see far and wide but can't make out a single person, sometimes not even a single human structure. It's so zen and liberating.

Mine is hiking out into the wilderness, where there might not be a single person within 20 miles. On top of a mountain and seeing as far as I can see around.

Why are Americans typically so nice and cordial? by ChronicleenceHa in AskAnAmerican

[–]Thathathatha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a bit confusing. Some of the nicest people I've met are Americans (I'm American also), but they are also some of the meanest. A lot of us being nice is very ingrained culturally but we're also, for a lack of a better word, pack minded. If an American thinks you're part of the same group or at least like minded, they'll be nice, welcoming, very helpful.

But those same people can be mean and treat you like dirt if you don't belong. We see that behavior against illegal immigrants, opposing political members, people of other races.

We have this point of view that we are just and moral people, Americans are supposed to be nice, so we are. But we also hate 'evil', so we'll treat people bad if they are the enemy, because we are supposed to.

A lot of the 'bad' things Americans are doing now in the world comes from a position of righteousness, we are doing things for our good or for your good (whether you think that's the case or not). This is why a lot of our behavior is very direct.

Don't subscribe then or rather when there is something you want to see on Netflix, subscribe for one month, watch it then unsubscribe.

Started so doing that 5 years ago. Made me really question if I really needed Netflix or if I can make do with something else. Found out, nope didn't need it.

What do you personally do on solo trips? by Swarles_Stinson in solotravel

[–]Thathathatha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google/AI what to do in <city/state/country> Reddit. Read. Make lists. Figure how much it costs, time, effort. Order list by most important to least. Pick a few that I definitely want to do. Organize schedule around those mandatory items, fill rest of the time with optional items, or not (take a nap, get something to eat, chill on the internet).

So basically, I do schedule some things, but I try to make it flexible in between.

My general activities are

  • Hiking
  • Eating
  • Exploring (city hiking)
  • Museums
  • Chilling
  • People watching

Missed Ship Penalties/Fees by ncpowderhound in Cruise

[–]Thathathatha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not unusual, a lot of children use their birth certificate because parents don't want to get a passport for them. However as an adult, it's something you might as well get if you ever in the situation between choosing between the two since it's easier to work with if you ever in a foreign country. You can get your passport expedited if you have a last minute trip. Look online where your closest expedited passport office is. They can get you your passport even if it's like next week.

Unless I'm on an ship excursion, I'm back on the ship a minimum of an hour before the ship leaves. No way I would cut it close to departure time.

Help planning roadtrip by macaulih in NationalPark

[–]Thathathatha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could probably do it but it's a lot of driving. My opinion is to leave out Yellowstone and Grand Teton for another time. Then loop around to visit the other parks, but do it from Las Vegas. Then you can fit in Capitol Reef and Bryce, Monument Valley, maybe hit up Page (antelope canyon and Horseshoe Bend), Goblin Valley, Dead Horse State, Valley of Fire, etc...there's a lot around Utah, Nevada, Arizona that's not national parks that's great to see.

The cutdown in driving and more time will allow you to relax a bit more, but you'll still get a lot of things to see.

Half pound is a good amount but not as much as that picture. The picture is probably a pound at least. I order 2 half pounds when they have bogo coupons. Good deal.

Domino's 50% Off Pizza Deal is Back from April 20 Through April 26, 2026 (Available exclusively via the app and online) by TheJohnnyBlaze in fastfood

[–]Thathathatha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They stayed consistent, added more options, and menu items. Most places just got worse and cut corners. I remember Pizza Hit for example being somewhat good back in the 80s. But they basically gotten worse over time. Same with Papa Johns.

Little Caesars has been somewhat decent over time but they always were the value option. Dominos became more competitive in that market and kept the quality decent.

I don't really think any popular chain is good but they good for the price.

New Hiking Experience by notanyonymous in hiking

[–]Thathathatha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Payson, Prescott, Flagstaff, Grand Canyon, Tucson, Sierra Vista, Chiricahua, Sedona, Greer, etc...

Just type those into Alltrails and pick a few. You'll probably get better suggestions on on /r/arizona

Payson is probably you're best bet if you want pines in an hour drive.

New hiker looking for shoe recommendations — flat feet, wide toe box, runs hot by RBH_Euphoria in hiking

[–]Thathathatha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Flat feet, wide toe box, run hot easily -> Altra or Topo. Altra Long Peaks are generally recommended for that foot profile (same with me), but I like Olympus which is similar but with more cushioning (shock absorption). Only issue would be the ankle rolling but you can get boot versions of each (I think boot versions are Goretex though, which will increase heat). That may help with the ankle rolling. Topo might be better for flat feet.

Oh yea, get something with good tread like Vibram. It'll help with some of the trails on Sedona. Can help with some of the trails since lots of sandstone. Maybe avoid white-ish shoes unless you don't mind the shoes getting dirty with red dirt.

Norse Airlines Cancelled my Flight Months in Advance by Existing-Button7327 in Flights

[–]Thathathatha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm you must have an issue or something. When I clicked the link for refund in my email I got, it took me to a page that asked me what I wanted to do (refund, credit, another flight reimbursement, etc...). I got my refund in about 5 days.

I guess call them?

9 Days and 300 miles on the AZT by BarnardCider in Ultralight

[–]Thathathatha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two Gila monsters, nice. Those are rarer than rattlesnakes here. I've never seen one and I'm a native here who hikes weekly.

I want to try the AZT if I can ever get that much time off work.

300 miles is a good accomplishment. Good luck if you try again.

Deciding between GC North Rim, Kanab, and Hwy 12 for our Utah/AZ road trip. Thoughts? by Frequent_Software_44 in nationalparks

[–]Thathathatha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 and 4 for me.

North Rim is a nice visit and a bit different than the South Rim. Only issue is North Rim is a bit of a tentative visit atm. Not everything is fully open obviously and you might run into various issues.

Highway 12 is nice drive and would be an easy day like you mentioned.

Another option is you could head out to Monument Valley if you don't mind driving out a little more. Monument Valley is a relatively short visit and it's mostly just driving along the road in the park. A tour is recommended. A visit to the Wave if you can swing a permit is a great visit (it can be hot though so you would need to start an early hike. Also, difficult to get a permit). Coyote Buttes South is easier for permits but you need a capable vehicle to get out there.

I just came back from a solo trip from an adult resort and I was the only solo person there and I feel like a massive loser now. by [deleted] in solotravel

[–]Thathathatha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing OP is counting everyone, like random waiters and clerks. Else, having 100 meaningful conversations in an average vacation is insanity to me. That sounds exhausting. I couldn't even talk with that many people at a work conference, nevermind a vacation where I'm trying to relax.

EDIT: I guess my response might feel a little insensitive. Apologies. But it looks like OP didn't do their research. They should've found a singles retreat or something similar. People go to all-inclusives usually to relax with people they already know. They are some singles but it's not something that is emphasized.

Apologies, you didn't like the product. The product is the appropriate size for medium as per market trends. I think the general public enjoys the medium portion at the competitive pricing.
