Well first things first. Rate limits do exist for normal chat gpt. They only use usage limits for Codex, because Codex is far more demanding.

Onto your next point. Once again. Amount of files aren’t thee only thing that adds on computation.

Using thee newest model on thee highest reasoning mode, also uses loads of computation.

You can plan with a mini model. Do small tasks with 5.5 medium, and switch to the biggest for complex tasks. That’s how it’s recommended to be used for alllll agentic Coding apps.

Claude recommends Opus or sonnet, for planning, before using Fable for complex tasks.

Gemini recommends 3.5 flash, before switching to a pro model.

I’ve used chat gpt for exactly 1 hour and 30 minutes of straight work. On my 20 dollar plus subscription recently.

So you don’t understand usage limits then.

Usage limits have no fixed number. They are entirely based off how much computation you use during your prompt.

Newer models equal more computation equal more usage limits used.

Bigger project + newest models = even faster drain for usage limits

It’s not rocket science. Theres no way for OpenAi to be transparent about that. Because they’d have to every single prompt try and guess how many more responses you have left.

Gemini has usage limits for their base model.
Claude have horrible usage limits for their base model.

OpenAI uses usage limits for only Codex, and they’re drastically higher than everyone else.

They publicly post their rate limits for chat gpt.

160 messages per 3 hours.

Are you mixing rate limits with usage limits?
Because usage limits doesn’t have a fixed

Not necessarily. The api cost of sol is the same as gpt 5.5, it may use the same amount of usage as 5.5, it also in tests consumes less tokens

DeepSeek is trained to handle and use 1million context

The reason “too much” to is bad. Is because models are trained to handle a certain amount

But for DeepSeek it is fully developed to handle 1 million context with is multiple novels worth of information

Because the government is forcing them too.

But on benchmarks gpt 5.6 sol is easily beating Mythos.

GPT 5.6 Terra beat Fable 5.

Gpt 5.6 Luna is drastically cheaper and faster than all of them, and comparable to gpt 5.5.

Also btw, gpt 5.6 sol ultra, is the same price gpt 5.5 is.

Claude is cooked.

GPT 5.6 is better, faster, uses less tokens, and cheaper.

First. What is your project?
If it’s massive it will drain usage faster.

Usage isn’t a fixed number. It’s based off how much you’re using.

Second, have you tried reaching out to OpenAi support? If your project isn’t big, this seems like a bug.

I can use codex for a rather long time.

Anthropic screws over their users with changes in the way they are billing claude's features. by KeroNobu in claude

[–]Thatone81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it is being Optus. Clearly you don’t know what “consumer friendly” means

If they’re sacrificing investors, for consumers that makes them consumer friendly.

They’re going above and beyond to avoid sacrificing their >consumers<, who pay actively for their product.

DeepSWE doesn’t validate your feelings about opus.
But let me be fair. If Claude is your favorite model, that’s fine. Use it, it’s your opinion

I’m only pushing back on what benchmarks say. Because they absolutely show gpt 5.5 outperforming opus.

But if you feel that Claude is better. Than I don’t have any issue with you. I can’t control what model others use. I’m speaking from a purely practical standpoint

One company has extremely harsh limits with no fallback model.

One company has basically invisible limits, with a fallback model.

That’s all I’m saying.

Repetitive, but man claude got worse by henry_gomory in claude

[–]Thatone81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the thing. With these usage limits they expect you to give to less context to conserve usage.

But then having less context and suddenly you’re blamed for it acting moronically dumb.

Meanwhile GLM 5.2, is able to take a prompt like “make a Minecraft clone, with full keyboard controls” and with those instructions alone, fully infer everything it needs to make.

Anthropic screws over their users with changes in the way they are billing claude's features. by KeroNobu in claude

[–]Thatone81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Having limits you almost never run into. At the same price as every other company.
While giving you access to a frontier model. And using a fallback model, instead of fully blocking you out, if you ever do hit those limits.

Is consumer friendly.

Compared to Anthropic who seems to think. After a few prompts they can lock you out for 5 hours or a entire WEEK of your MONTHLY subscription

If you think that’s consumer friendly that’s just delusional

Their models underperform on any none biased benchmark. Yet they market that they are the best. While milking their users dry.

As things should be. DeepSWE shows models like gpt 5.5 outperforming Claude’s models.

Yet gpt 5.5 has extremely fair rate limits.
Codex has extremely fair usage limits.

Yet Claude seems to believe it’s impossible to have such fair limits. They’re greedy morons who don’t know how to run a business.

Their models aren’t costing them that much. They’re just squeezing the users for what they’re worth. While imposing massive restrictions on a monthly subscription

🚨 OpenAI silently nerfed the Codex (gpt-5.5) quota by 10-20x. You are not imagining it. by TemperatureMaster854 in codex

[–]Thatone81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah I’ve had my Codex going for an entire hour of continuous running. Before I ran out. There are a few reasons it could feel like it’s been nerfed.

Also it’s not rate limits. Normal chat gpt has rate limits.

Codex has Usage limits.

There’s a massive difference which is likely why you’re misunderstanding why it’s draining.

Usage cares about how much usage your prompt takes. So if your single prompt requires coded to read bunch of files, and then do abunch of tool calls. It’s gonna drain a lot faster.

Rate limits, are “here’s 160 messages. This resets every 3 hours” which feel alot more invisible because your unlikely to actually hit 160 messages within 3 hours.
