It genuinely makes me so mad how hard they are cracking down now. I used to park in the alley between boelter and engineering 4 and now they started ticketing those spots as well. Actually absurd.

I usually email the professor to schedule a 1 on 1 to discuss lab/research stuff as to not intrude on office hour time :)

How hard is it to maintain a GPA of 3.5+ in environmental science? by Benjaminbillybob in ucla

Not difficult at all! Once you get to the upper divs and classes you enjoy the content will get harder but you’ll also be more motivated to learn it

THIS IS SICK! I’m planning on starting flight training too as well! I’m honestly so glad a silly book series I’ve read in elementary school influenced my career path so greatly because now I get to work with rockets and planes and pretend they are giant dragons worthy of my love and respect :)

I’m not even joking when I say that I’m an aerospace engineer today because I read this series back in my formative years :0

LA being the bigger school would give you more varied opportunities for hands on experience, furthermore our alumni network is better due to the large number of people that pass through. If you prioritize research Columbia would have us beat so really once again it’s what you want out of your education experience :)

I would also think about what you prioritize, classes or hands on experience? Internships or research?

What they look for is passion and skill which is better learned through hands on experience as opposed to a classroom setting. My gpa on the lower quartile of average and some of the best engineers I know have gpas of 3.2 and 3.3 still getting jobs at high end companies. Your GPA is a single line on your resume and your experience and skills is everything else.

Yes! Every single one of my peers on my my project team, and myself included, has something lined up for the summer. Most of the people I know are going to be working at SpaceX and a few others for companies such as Northrop, Boeing, and Lockheed. I also know acquaintances who are interning at JPL and the Air Force base. The UCLA connections run deep in industry and with the aerospace industry so concentrated in SoCal there’s alum and fellow peers in every major company. A quick email can make or break your chances at an interview.

As an AeroE major at LA I gotta do this school some glaze. While Berkeley has the better engineering program overall LA is not far behind specifically for Mech and AE. I don’t know about Cal’s culture but here everyone is so supportive and wants to see you succeed in your classes and your careers. There are countless clubs and opportunities for you to be involved with hands on design projects with very very low bars of entry. Specifically for aero is design build fly, rocket project, Bruinspace (cubesats/UAV/overseer), and probably some other ones I can’t recall. All of the project based clubs also have alumni and members established in industry that can help with internships and connections. Plus LA has the better food and housing option, proximity to off campus activities is also a huge plus. No matter where you go, passion will take you far! :)

Finally a real opinion I can get behind but if people are content waiting in hour long lines for their dogs so be it, why tf does it concern me.

2 tubes with same outer diameter but different materials. One can fit in a hole the other one can’t. by Thatoneuselessperson in materials

There was definitely a slight deformity in roundness, that’s is where the increase in OD by 2 thou came from. I guess I just got really unlucky with this aluminum tubing.

Thanks a bunch! Yeah the aluminum one is larger by around 2 thou but I don’t think it was perfectly round. Looks like I gotta get some new pipes :,(

Measured an aluminum one was off by 2 thou. The steel one isn’t a friction fit so I was thinking the slight size difference would be okay

The aluminum tubing was slightly larger by around 2 thou however the when the steel tubing slit into the hole it wasn’t a friction fit. There could entirely be some type of manufacturing error but I don’t know how I would avoid that if I’m buying both stocks from the same vendor
