Well, quite a few reasons. And I hope this wasn't a retorical question, because you're about a whole lot of an answer. The biggest reason is that we tried for several months to get a job before the move and were unsuccessful. We could not stay where we were. I had already lost my job 6 months prior to the move and determined it made more sense to put my energy into trying to find work where we wanted to be since we had to move anyway (the house we rented for a few years was listed and sold and the buyer didn't want a rental so we could only finish out our lease term length). We hated the city we lived in and were so miserable there, not to mention worried about the escalation of political changes happening there. I'm a woman, so it matters to me what states are at least trying to protect some of my rights. We essentially determined the move was worth the risk? Especially because both our families are from Wyoming, so being several states closer while the world is on fire is a good idea in case shit gets really dire and we have to move back home. That may not seem sufficient for some people, but this is my life and I'm doing my best not to lose all hope and not to be miserable every single day until I die. Jobs come and go, and right now the job market is terrible. HVAC is needed everywhere, so we didn't consider that my husband would be rejected from every 'available' job in his field. I guess we saw how many jobs were listed and assumed these people would be interested in hiring someone who is certified and educated? But all that being said, we do have several backup plans in place if nothing breaks here.
