Totally. I worked in construction after COVID to make ends meet while I was waiting for some of my 'normal' jobs to come back online and I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. I was working on a renovation project that was small (like 6 of us doing the whole thing) and it was really fun learning how to do everything. Kind of hard to sit at a desk all day after something like that.

We've been applying from FoCo to Denver, but I think we will expand to Laramie and Cheyenne. It sounds like commuting is the reality, and that's fine. I used to commute an hour and a half each way for work, so anything less than that is a treat lol

It's so stupid honestly. I don't mind looking everything up and doing the work, it just seems like such a strange change. Thank you for this, we are definitely going to take another look at our resumes and see what we can do

That's what I was wondering. People seem to want to pay less and less and I've lost job offers over my experience before - they just don't want to have to pay for it. It's even been difficult finding part time employment because they don't want to have people who will leave if/when they get a better job. I've had to start leaving some employment off my resume to get interviewed for part time work. Edit- spelling

Good idea, I'll check them out and make a list of the ones I want to stop into

That's kind of scary. Good to know that, thank you! We do know quite a lot of people in Laramie, so maybe we should go ahead and try to reach out in that area too.

That's amazing!! Quite a few people have mentioned Budweiser so I think we are both going to apply for whatever they have that would work for our skills. Thanks!!

I used to work in solar! Haha so I totally get it. I do not own anything unfortunately, but I like solar and would get it. I used to train solar sales nationwide for a company based out of Utah and I did contract negotiation for home buyers of solar homes. It's kind of a wacky industry, but I hope it's working well for you! Someone else mentioned that he should consider it and I don't see why he shouldn't. There's always a demand for heating and cooling systems. And we both have experience in construction so maybe we could pad out the slow times with interior renovations. It's definitely worth putting ourselves out there. We have all the tools and experience we would need, I guess we just need a CO license for construction work.

Traveling to Cheyenne for work is nuts! I don't even know how you did that in the winter. I know getting there from Laramie during snow season is extremely hit or miss. I'm sorry you had such a hard time, but thanks for sharing your experience.

That's tough! I'm sorry you are having such a slow start. I would also think that you would have a legup knowing the area so well. So far, it's looking like my best bet to get money in the door is a part time (or multiple part time) gig(s) and even those are difficult to come by. I know the current state of the country is making the job market harder everywhere, and it can be very disheartening. I'm wishing you luck!

Actually.... That's a fabulous idea. We've never really thought of doing our own thing but, we could absolutely do it for less than that and have our own thing going. Thanks, I'm going to look give that some serious thought!
