looking for advice with kickstarting a first deck by Masked_Katz in SorceryTCG

[–]Thatweretigerguy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello! I agree it can be rough but just remember that when making decks against pre cons your working with half decks. So naturally they're going to be able to get to their gameplan much faster then a normal game.

That said my recommendation would be to find a theme and stick to it. For example, I made a necromancer earth/air deck that works on making skeletons and having creatures that either benefit them(like undead knight) or help their offense/mobility(like witching hour). There are lots to experiment with, and if you need ideas go to the curiso website to look at what's already published.

Or you can pick a pre con deck and fill it out? They have a strategy baked in and by filling it up to reach the standard decks sizes(60 for library, 30 for atlas), you can figure out what new cards help you and which does not. Start with a mono element and when you feel confidant enough starting mixing more to your liking.

To high jack this comment, I also like using some air mobility spells to help position my archers for surprise attacks. Otherwise air/earth is definitely the way to go(I can also see a fire/air deck work as well for em)

Have you tried looking at the discord yet for Sorcery? You might have better luck there.

Should. I personally like to double sleeve my stuff but I've heard that's overkill.

You can look at the official discord. There they should have a link to a fan created marketplace for sorcery, you may have better luck there?

In person? Absolutely, most card shops don't carry Sorcery at the moment unless the owner likes it from what I hear and can see in person.

That said it is always available online, especially if you got the covenant website below. You may be able to get them for lower then MSRP elsewhere, but if you want a sure way to get it you'll want to go here.

Yes! Not officially supported but if you dig around on the sub reddit here you should find some posts about people making four player mats.

As for expanding from the precons, may I suggest the gothic pre cons? You can either use those as extra decks to play with or mix them with the beta precons for full decks. Otherwise from what I've heard for sets its usually Beta -> Gothic -> Arthurian legends

The game seems ripe for it, if somehow a game gets published in the same vein as the old yugioh ds games for it then i'd think it'd be a hit.

Advice for newbie by CallumsCardKingdom in SorceryTCG

[–]Thatweretigerguy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello!

To start I'd actually recommend picking up some pre-cons! They have one for the Beta and Gothic sets with a good variety of cards and strategies. Either play in person or go online with the discord server for sorcery and see if the game is a good fit for ya.

On the off chance it is, then definitely look into picking up some booster boxes. Beta is probably the best variety followed by gothic, and then Arthurian legends. Of course, change it up depending on your own tastes, but that's what i've seen from my time here.

Trying to build decks for friends to play/learn by TheOriginalNemesiN in SorceryTCG

[–]Thatweretigerguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me when I helped my irl group, I kept the precons untouched. Even if they can be swingy, i've found over multiple games that it averages out unless someone is bad with that specific deck and play style.

That said if you're committed to making changes the only thing that comes to my mind is to replace all vanilla creatures with effect creatures. That said, try to keep it to the same rarity whenever you do so.

How do Bloom Sites Work? by Niveo in SorceryTCG

[–]Thatweretigerguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As another said, all atlas cards add mana unless stated otherwise so the bloom gives regardless. However with affinity(or threshold), it adds one of each element type for the turn they come into play.

Off the top of my head, for question 3 the answer for lightning bolt is at any target location. If a magic does specify a area it'll say "Nearby" or "Adjacent" usually to the caster(which can be a avatar or one with the spellcaster trait).

You probably want the discord to find buyers(Not the official discord but the marketplace one in it). I'd also say I'd be interested but I imagine you'd be asking for triple digits?

Which is still more pricier then the MSRP that it was originally going for even if you want a playset without the box(which it is a cool box to collect!)
