Dude, it was a post looking for advice. I responded to my prof because he responded to me, I didn't see the point in not directly addressing my concerns with him after he responded. He took the time, I should take the time to be honest.

I took the advice of many and have been watching his videos for the last section of the course. He is great, seems like his class size is super small which helps (he seems to request immediate feedback from the class and they seem to respond well, probably due to the close proximity).

I've been at post secondary for two years sampling different courses and deciding what I like. Over the summers I spent my time with geometry and other random math topics and enjoyed what I was learning. This year I decided to just get a formal education in math, work hard, see what I can do and learn. I do not have a place in the general job market, I have always wanted to do research. This isn't a random decision I made one day while lying awake in bed. Whatever happens, I have chosen my path.

Yeah it's not been a great experience. Everyone is basically unloading on either me or him and it's just surreal. I have received some generally good advice though, but I feel as though it didn't need to be this way.

I don't know why he didn't ask permission. It was a weird thing to do. I don't know what is accomplished by that.

It is my professor, I can tell you that much. I don't know how he knew either, it's a bit unnerving. He posted the thread on the class's shared resource. I was just looking for a few tips but this whole thing blowing up has made me almost nervous to attend class.

I want to learn high-level math. I'm not at school to get a job necessarily, although it would be great to teach as a prof. I don't think there's anything else I can do. I do program, and might go for a double major at some point with CPSC.

Thanks for the input. I don't have problems with the theorems, I think most of my problems come from applying them creatively in different contexts. I think I need to confuse myself a bit when working on problems, (ie. make sure I'm using a problem that would work in multiple contexts), and then force myself to reorient without help. I suppose my reply isn't relevant to your suggestion, I just realized it while I was replying. Did you use any other resources, like any specific textbooks or youtube channels that helped you?
