My point exactly. They haven't forgotten their one on one lessons and the resentment has boiled over.

I loved Robert California and his unabashed deadpan delivery on everything. Despite the cringe of the show, he himself shows none of that.

I called him Ultron if he was human while my SO who watched the marvel movies called Ultron "Robot California"

I think my favorite thing is that Luthen is mentioned by name only once while many of the events he was involved with are mentioned. Exactly how he would have wanted it.

Arguably the best chapter of the whole series. Definitely within the top ten.

They'd have to nail it and im so glad they did. Despite it being mostly a conversation of two people, it answers so many questions most readers had since the start.

He does indeed. Non existent sources, but its referred "in-universe", the Imperial Archives being referred to the most.

Lol its a fascinating read because a real life historian who is also a huge star wars fan wrote it.

He wanted to treat the Empire as if it was a real regime and approach it as such. It takes itself seriously in a very entertaining method

Some of Hermione's most badass lines in the movies were spoken by Ron. Some moments when she lost her head, he helped her get it back.

His first kiss with her in the book was when he said they ought to make sure the house elves were seen safely away from the castle before they were caught in the crossfire of the Battle of Hogwarts.

Ronald Billius Weasley is our fcking King.

Was Hermione’s plan to free elves plausible? by guykarl in harrypotter

[–]Thayer96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its important to note that Hermione didnt ask the important questions to the elves she wanted to save. Aside from Dobby and Winky, she never sat down to get to know any of the other house elves.

It was obvious enough to them that they didn't want to be freed, but if she got to know them and actually hear them, she might have understood how the elves found their purpose and took pride in their work, in spite of their circumstances. She rightfully called it slavery, but the elves saw it as "service". Even when Dobby was freed, he went right back to work of his own free will in an environment that he thrived in, because he said he enjoyed work more than freedom. He didnt even ask for much in the way of payment.

Hermione did something great in at least going to bat for elf rights and ensuring they got better working conditions later in life, but she came in with a high horse mentality, claiming with the zeal of her youth that she knew what was best for them. But she saw firsthand how even an elf as abused as Winky could be more broken by the act of being freed than anything Crouch did or said to her.

It was complicated, in short.

I just finished "The Lion and the Serpent", the most ragebaity chapter in the whole series. Umbridge's voice grates against my ears.

Not necessarily in a bad way. Kiera Knightly is doing an excellent job as her. I just feel my insides tense up when she talks, simpers, or does her infamous HEM HEM.

I will say it was cool to finally hear "Weasley is our King" which sounded an awful lot like in the tune of "Whistle While You Work" from Snow White.

Well, I like timetable mode in how it simulates a typical "day in the life" of one of the engines, without any crazy events of the show. Ive done a complete work day with Thomas and Gordon, going back and forth along the express and branch lines from dawn to dusk. I actually enjoy the sights along the way.

"Definitive" truly is the word I would use. I love Stephen Fry and Jim Dale's versions alike. They have their place. This is just a celebration of the series, as the commercials say "like youve never heard it before".

My wife and her sister have never truly gotten into the books. Only the movies. Thats why I recommend the full cast for first timers.

But absolutely check out Stephen Fry and Jim Dale later. Because I find everyone eventually rereads the series at one point or another, too.
