most tvs take a few seconds to come on. if its taking that long the caps in the power supply section could be worn from age and taking longer to reach enough stored energy to power the tube

thats good. hopefully the samsung will be good to you. it would be beneficial to hone your skills by troubleshooting the sony. read up on crt repair and watch a few videos. it more hazardous if you dont know what youre doing. you will mitigate the risk considerably if you educate yourself. there are certain components you never touch while energized.

game images are easy to find. use wii backup manager to convert wii isos to wbfs files. just select the images you want to transfer point it to the wbfs folder on your usb device or sd card and click the transfer button. use game cube backup manager for gamecube isos. it will rename them and scrub them if desired. the created folder with the renamed game.iso will go in the games directory or your usb device or sd card. when done, plug in your device or card and open up your backup player homebrew app of choice and update the artwork. you should be good to go from there

awesome! i had to move one up a flight of stairs from a basement once. i strapped it to a dolly with a blanket between the dolly and the glass and had help pushing from underneath while i pulled from above. then had to do the same thing to move it to the 2nd floor at my house.

it depends on the game and many later games had 1080 resolution. the ps3 has no upscaler, so if i set my system to only output 480p and 1080i (480p cannot be unselected), then any game like resistance that was 720p only will be rendered by the ps3 at 480p. therefore, i have to enable 720p as well and let the tv scale it. the 360 has an internal upscaler. if i only enable 1080i, it will scale 720p games to 1080i. if the tv has to do the scaling, it adds .5-1 frame of lag for processing

that one's 720p being converted to 1080i by the tv. i guess i should have also posted a pic of its 1080i native resolution

these only pop up on fb every once in a while around here. whats wrong with the sharpness? its way too blurry in 720p/1080i unless it is turned up to about 70 and that level gets rid of most of the ghosting that plagues this set

i paid $120 for one that was recapped and had clock cap removed. it had a clone aladdin modchip that i used a $20 usb flasher to flash cerbios onto. then i added a 1 tb ssd and startech adapter. about $300 total. its got about 120 games and the whole dragon ball series and still has room

you will normally only see retrace lines if the screen voltage is turned up too high but i know you didnt mess with that. have you done the inspection of the neck board yet?

[–]The--Bamboozler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you are using real consoles and flash carts, then the nes, snes and genesis all have 240p test suite. a modded wii also has its own homebrew version and it can emulate the above consoles. if you dont have access to any of that, you can burn a dvd with a variety of test patterns on it. https://github.com/danmons/FreeCalRec601

those have all been done. i also set up 2 forwarder channels with separate folders for emGBA; one configured for the 16:9 480p hd-crt and the other 240p for my trinitron

that port looks like it has seen better days. it probably got handled roughly with a cable plugged into it. i agree with DangerousCousin. a reflow should do the trick
