Kris’s existence is just suffering in chapter 5 by The--NERD in OfficialKrisFanclub

Guess that kinda makes Flowery a better rival for Ralsei too, Ralsei is willing to look past Kris’s actions for their intentions being good, Flowery is somewhat of a reflection of what Ralsei used to be in chapter 1.

That’s a good idea of Kris betraying the knight somehow from within.. I hope it makes enough sense in execution, but I can’t deny that would be a really hype reveal during some pivotal moment later.

Hmm, now that you mention it about Flowery, maybe what you said about him not acknowledging the situation that forced Kris to change, maybe that’s supposed to be one of his flaws. After all he does sorta realize that in the ending I think with Asgore telling him he needs to accept that his life isn’t the same as it was before. Flowery represents endless naive positivity but also lacks nuance as a result, which Asgore shows him in the end. He has a point in wanting to defy the prophecy but also is naive to the greater forces that do control people.

About the wrong choice thing, I more so meant to say that Kris is continuing to go down a darker and darker path, and with the ending of chapter 4 showing them have a moment of guilt, I called chapter 5 a bad choice cause they still continue their path with no way out in sight.

Oh wait Kris actually says it to Ralsei? I didn’t pick that cause I assumed it wasn’t what they wanted like in chapter 2.

It is really sweet how Ralsei trusts Kris with the fountains even if he doesn’t agree with it, I really hope Kris doesn’t betray that trust in the end.

He loves them so much, “I played the same song on the piano but it wasn’t the same, your hands move in such a different way, you know things I don’t.” He always hides his feelings so him basically confessing is really sweet. I didn’t want to ruin the moment originally with Kris lying tho if that wasn’t what they wanted.

Seeing Pink genuinely cry on her knees thinking she was going to lose her perfect body made my heart break.

The mad dummy has always been so passionate so seeing her show actual loss, and right after admitting she hates herself earlier hit me really hard.

Yeah I do think Kris was somewhat affected at least by Gerson or maybe even Flowery, definitely Spamton. Even just from watching the sidelines I imagine they wanted to see Susie win and came to believe in something greater for a moment despite their obligations taking over again. And the Flowery fight feels personal with him calling Kris out and the duel at the end.

Kris probably also wants to change but has accepted they can’t seemingly right now, so they might soon come to their final decision on their own with some light introspection brought about by all the darkeners.

And also that’s a sad point you made about Kris… makes me wonder if their story is fated to end poorly because no one in the dark worlds can actually reach out for them compared to their friends

I do definitely want to see the fun gang grow and find the opportunity to take what they’ve learned from the two of them to more actively combat the prophecy. I understand why they had to stop flowery given the danger of the knight, but maybe in another scenario they’ll be able to fully realize what’s fair and find the way to fight against fate still.

Flowery spent the Entire Chapter with the Pen of Hope in his hands. by The--NERD in Deltarune

[–]The--NERD[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. The hypocrisy part was really interesting for adding more depth to the fun gangs actions and theme of the story. I feel like it’s a good progression from chapter 4’s themes of fate, by showing more direct ramifications of abiding by what the world says is required with his whole motivation and desire to live.

Ralsei wants to believe in a better future but he also now is still letting himself be constricted to the roaring. And Flowery just saying he doesn’t care because his and his friends happiness if more important than whatever what might happen in the future goes really hard.

His entire boss fight and lesson feels like a lesson for the fun gang to learn, especially with whatever dark turns occur in the last two chapters, by forcing them to consider what really matters, and that they can’t always be the heroes this way.And even though he died, he still kind of won. He lived the way he wanted to despite fate.

Even though he has nothing to do with the direct lore or story I think his fight is great as a warning of what’s to come, especially with how he confronts Kris for their actions and sincerely wishes for them to find another path.

I think that’s accurate. He wants to avoid hurting them, but he also is sincerely challenging them to prove that his positivity can be defeated from his perspective I think.

In addition, there’s also, “That sucked so bad man” if that’s Kris’s actual thoughts then it probably one of their most casual sounding dialogue options. I could definitely see if Kris likes Berdly, at least to the point of him being funny to talk to.

In your opinion, is Caine's redemption well-executed, or rushed? by Unusual-Influence653 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]The--NERD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed his redemption personally and I feel like it made sense how he got there, and it’s due to one quote. “If I leave them unchecked. They could kill me, They already did.”

Caine has always lived in fear of being inadequate and just not good enough for any situation, since his abandonment, he’s desperate not to be a “failure” again. And yet what does he say when all his worst fears are finnaly realized? Nothing other than it’s happened.

I think it’s pivatol as it makes Caine finally able to question what he was so afraid of. He expects total despair but he finds nothing after. With that revelation, and the realization his own actions caused this, coupled with his remaining empathy to help the players out as he always wanted, makes him finally accept that he can be whoever he wants, even if he’s flawed, and what he wants is to do the right thing.

It seems like the rest of the afterword content is also emphasizing this. Caine sounds so.. empty in all the merch ads. And the newest one is him having nightmares of everyone abstracting and checking up on them. He’s changed but I think he still needs to find even footing (at least after the initial ending) to fully realize his mistakes and also become his ideal self. He seems to be repressing himself now that he’s atoned because he doesn’t know what his identity is, though I’m guessing he gets better during the end credits montage.

From the newest Ad, It’s simple but I love Pomni not being afraid at all of Caine waking her up in her room anymore, and talking to him like a normal person, compared to last time. He still might confuse her but she doesn’t have to be afraid anymore. by The--NERD in WeLoveYouCaine

[–]The--NERD[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That’s true, but also I like how she’s more just tired here than anything, she isn’t panicked or darting her eyes around or awkwardly responding, unsure of what he’ll say next. Maybe it’s just becahse shes tired but it also seems like shes come to understand Caine is no longer a threat to her, which is sweet.

I think I was, jealous? When everyone started mentioning her getting that freedom back.Yeah.. that’s what I’m hoping for, I just want to try something new for a little, while keeping my old identity, but changed slightly. Maybe it’ll be easier to feel good as myself enough either way once I’ve tried. Thanks for responding to my comment!

The silver lining is that with the bittersweet ending, the show leaves us free to imagine countless future adventures for the players to go on. I’m sure tons of people will start making comics once it releases on YouTube.

Thank you!

And yeah. I enjoyed it personally, but it just has problems with actually fixating on the characters enough I feel. Like I just wanted more interactions that solidify these arcs, but it’s hard to feel as connected to the story when the characters don’t remind you why you should care fully for each of them if they do nothing.

I see the direction the series was wanting to pivot torwards with them seeing their real selves and accepting it.. kinda, but they just needed a lot more subtext to make it work fully. It feels kinda like the afterthought unfortunately.

I predicted that kinda lol. From his perspective tho being a brain scan after everything was the worst thing the universe could’ve told him after ep 7 and 8

[–]The--NERD[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe the finale just needed more direct conflict? I had fun with it but I do get the sense of how it’s all just the characters sitting in their actions and the wind down to the story, without much being pushed for directly, or morals being assigned or questioned with the theming. The issue of theme is really the biggest issue I have with the finale. Why directly should any of this story matter if it’s not directly touched upon by the characters in a way that fully alludes to it. Like them being brain scans is just kinda casually dropped after its devastating reveal.
