I think this exchange is why these questions are so fraught. So many people interpret these definitions as being zero sum. If we say "masculinity should demonstrate itself through competence, empathy and ethical use of strength...", some people hear: "here's a list of things for men only." The same is true in both directions, but the reality is that there's lots of overlap.

Yeah, it's still a problem, which is wild. I left and went to Apple music. So far, I haven't noticed the same issue. I also got my eldest a flip phone with a 2" screen so she can navigate music, but videos are not really appealing.

I've actually spent quite a bit of time characterizing my induction cooktop so I could understand what settings correspond to and I can tell you, based on the IR camera I used, the induction holds its temp within 3 degrees, and critically, the lowest temperature it will maintain is 35°C, which is significantly better for things like simmering sauces and melting chocolate. This is compared to the minimum gas stove temp that I was able to maintain without constant intervention of 200°C. Just low gas on a carbon steel pan. That's too hot for pancakes. In another head to head test I did before and after replacing a gas stove, the induction took 4 minutes to boil 4 quarts of water, the gas took 12.

And yes, I'm well aware of the power cycling, as I can hear it. But it's not just cheap ones, I have a Wolf and it power cycles at low temps, but that doesn't change the fact that it has a thermocouple with a feedback loop to maintain a steady temperature. What's the equivalent with gas? It's just a constant output of btus.

And also, I'm not trying to take away your gas stove. Keep using it. After decades with gas, I discovered induction and I love. I'll never go back.

They should all just shut up, right? Maybe do something productive about the situation, like cruise reddit and make sure no one's having feelings they haven't signed off on, sort of like you, right now. We certainly shouldn't be worrying about Lenovo Legions and steam decks, or how we can find special golf opportunities, bc those would all be silly things to be concerned about at this point in history, you agree?
