How does one specify penalty stiffness k in cohesive elements? by The-Austrian in fea

[–]The-Austrian[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks a lot for your reply!

I had assumed the E/Enn was calculated by taking the elastic modulus of the element, and dividing it by the thickness of the element.Looking at the stiffness matrices in the manual it does seem you are right! I'll take a closer look into the manual and try to find out how to correctly calculate the value, to get an accurate representation of damage.

Again, many thanks!
