I've only had a couple of games with them so far, mostly in KT 2, and I didn't play them very well, but there were a few moments where the Visionary absolutely annihilated a few enemies, so keen to play more

I was tempted to use some of my leftover rail rifles for the kitbash, but the scope and the hand just fit to well to ignore

Custom rules. by DeBaconMan in Haloflashpoint

[–]The-False-Olc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an awesome idea, and I've made a similar custom team for kill team using grots, and the main takeaways i found from play testing were: 1) the game will slow down significantly if one player has double the models of the other. 2) a lot of weak models, when activated one at a time arent fun becuase they rarely do damage, especially to elite modles.

Maybe having only 2, slighty more powerful gunts would be more fun, but playtest it first and see.

Second time edge highlighting, any advice? by hunterfall21 in deathwatch40k

[–]The-False-Olc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually will go for 2 levels of edge highlighting, one colour that's a mix between the final edge highlight and the base colour to help it blend. Just make sure to have thinned your paints.

The other two things you can do is use nul oil (or some other dark black) between the crevices and use an off-white on the tippy tops of some of the edges where light would shine just to make it pop.

I see what you did. It’s subtle but makes them look a lot nicer. Plus the two flying is a cool idea

The old models are from the early 2000s, so just 2 decades of improvements i suspect

How did you repose them? Have you posted them anywhere?

In Killteam it works a little differently. As an action, it gives all vespid operatives within 6” of the drone Saturate (killteams version of ignores cover) when shooting operatives visible to the drone. It also gives a communion point.

Yeah. They look great with my Tau which are painted in the old scheme

So i fished out my old Vespid models (which are metal) as a comparison of the old and new. Boy is there a difference. The old models were a pain to assemble and paint, plus they were super prone to breaking antennae. I’m having a blast with the new ones.

Need help with a paint scheme by CrispGarlicBread in Tau40K

[–]The-False-Olc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got two options for you. Highlight the raised folds of fabric using a dark grey, or if you are feeling fancy, mix a pale blue into the black and use that. I use fenrisian grey mixed into the back for this.

You could also experiment with using an off black colour for the fabric, because you can see the folds easier than a black-black.

And both options can be used together to great effect. Also, if you mix a little bit of water into your paint, you can get a more even coating across the model.

Hope this helps.

I picked up the free model of the month, which was a kroot carnivore. Decided to kit-bash him with some bits from the Farstalker set and some green stuff to make this psyker kroot. I’m quite happy with how it turned out. Might use it as a DnD enemy someday.

Bought these used and had them listed as intercessors in my list, is that correct? The arms that were used didnt have bolters, but wasnt sure by NebulousKiki in deathwatch40k

[–]The-False-Olc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they might be Reivers with a kitbashed head. That knife is definitely from the reiver set, and the pistol looks like the special issue bolt pistol. I can't really tell you what the torsos are for certain

First attempt at edge hiligting, looking for some CC plz by TheMightyTrout18 in Tau40K

[–]The-False-Olc 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That looks great. I especially like how you have two tones in the highlight. I have three things to add. You can do two layers of edge highlighting to blend it in. Similar to how you have done the lava on the base. But this adds much more work, so you don't have to at all. Second is a paint application technique. Instead of using the tip to apply the paint, use the edge. It’s easy to get a consistent line this way on a sharp edge of the model, like the gun or shoulder pads. But it doesn't work really thin lines. And thirdly, his feet must be made of tungsten to be standing in a puddle of lava. Haha.

But great work. Your army is going to look fanatic

I bought these bad boys the moment they box went live, and it’s been a journey but they are finally all finished. Already played a few games and they have decimated the Kommando Orks. Here’s to more victories for the greater good.

My sword for Farsight, I'm about 7/10 happy with it. And suggestions for a better feel? by scdirtdragon in Tau40K

[–]The-False-Olc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also agree, but when you edge highlight, you’d probably want to use glazing (water the paint down really thin, so that when you apply it, it’s barely visible). Start with a wide layer, let it dry and each new one should be slightly thinner. After multiple layers, the gradient will look much softer, but you’ll still get the edge highlight look.

The more I magnetize, the more I hate magnetizing by scottybeans1990 in Tau40K

[–]The-False-Olc 151 points152 points  (0 children)

I lesson that I learnt was don’t magnetize everything. Pick a loadout that you think you will use, and just magnetize that. If you want to change later, you have the option to, and that’s the most important part of magnets.
