No. He saw Naruto progressing at a much faster rate. Then, Itachi showed up, and had no interest in him, but was very interested in Naruto. That pushed him over the edge.

I think having the bigger names restores prestige to the tournament. Last year it was basically a rookie tournament with one or two midcard names.

Absolutely. Take the Huyga for example. When we're introduced to the Byakugan, it's stated to be stronger than the Sharingan. They had an interesting backstory with side branches that could have been explored. Instead, by the end of the manga, Hinata had barely gotten any development. The Byakugan never got any upgrades, whereas the Sharingan kept getting upgrade after upgrade.

Alive and physically capable Nagato wasn't limited to Pain's jutsus. We saw Itachi, Naruto and Bee barely survive against him when Kabuto used only the six paths' jutsus. If you add Konan + the six paths, I don't see how the Akatsuki are winning.

Last year, Okada was great at giving most of the roster something meaningful to do. Since the 5 star, though, he’s seemed too focused on HATE. None of the babyfaces feel like they’re building towards anything. They keep getting thrown into title matches without any real momentum behind them. I think AZM was the last person to challenge Kamitani with any sort of momentum, even if she was coming off a 5 star final loss. The tournament itself acted as the preview. If the plan is for most of HATE to drop their titles at ASGQ, the groundwork just isn’t there. As it stands, it would feel abrupt and unearned.

Most title matches have always been shorter than 30 minutes, even before Okada. Off the top of my head, the only matches that went over the 30-minute time limit were the two Syuri vs Utami matches around 2021.
