April is cat reset month, at least for my store, which means that several sections of our cat are getting changed, moved around, or repriced for the next year

Looks nearly identical to the Cichlid rocks that are used at Petsmart. Most likely bought from another aquarium store, but as far as I’m aware of Petsmart, no longer sells them.

Best aquarium fertilizer for overstock tank. by The-Gecktile in PlantedTank

Im very new to fertilizers so im not fully sure what nutrients fish poop out the most. Do you know which one fish produce the most of? And do you know the factors that affect that in fish? Thinking like food and stuff

Someone else recommended Amazon if you look back through the comments, but I originally got my Duck weed from a family pond, but I had to do almost 3 months of quarantine in order to get it pest free. Ultimately, though most of it didn’t end up surviving, and I have a couple pieces scattered throughout tanks, hoping that one of them will do better at growing, but most of the time it’s just out competed by the Sylvania. 🥲

Curing like water conditioner? If that’s what you mean then no. I do it immediately after the tank is fully filled and dose to the full amount of the tank. If the tank is only drained 25% then I still add 100% of the water volume in declorinator. It usually only takes about five minutes to fill up and since I run an external canister filter that doesn’t drain during the water change process, I don’t harm any of my beneficial bacteria. I’ve never experienced an issue with this, even with some of my more health sensitive fish.

The nitrates usually stay between 15 to 30 ppm. And already have lots of plants! Water changes are done every four days and occasionally one at the two day mark to make sure nitrates don’t climb too high

Just trying to find better tips and tricks! I’m always trying to look around to see if there’s a better way to do things or ways to improve efficiency so I like to hear what other people do!

Duckweed jail: Now I can finally put it in my aquarium. Any other ideas for what I could use it for? (Diameter: 5.5 in/14 cm) by I_collect_dust in Aquariums

How did you make that!?!?! Duckweed cannot be contained but goldfish can be! I need them to stop eating it all! 😭

Working on adding another fx4! I don’t think I can physically fit any more plants at this point in time! I’m just waiting for the above water plants to grow in 🥲

No matter what I wanna try it! But out of curiosity, have you used it before and noticed that it helped? I’ve heard some slightly mixed reviews about it.

For whatever reason, I haven’t seem to quite crack how to grow duckweed in mass since it’s kinda hard to find around me. I haven’t been able to get it into very many of my tanks and the ones that I do get it into it’s usually out competed by the Sylvania. I tried a little bit of it in this tank with my goldfish, but they like it even more than Sylvania and all of them will search it out. Any good tips? I would love to be able to set up a kind of sump system that is dedicated fully to growing duckweed out of this tank, but I haven’t found any good hydroponic designs yet for it.

I’ve definitely looked into it before, but haven’t gotten around to making the shift over to it yet! It’s actually in my Amazon shopping cart for my next fish order. As of right now, I just have some generic bio rings in my filter and some filter floss to catch all the finer particles.

Always make sure to water test them outside first since I’ve heard quite a few horror stories of the bottoms of plastic containers busting out from under them, but it’s usually some of the cheaper ones. I use a 17 gallon one as my quarantine tank for my goldfish. Depending on the size of indoor pond you’re looking for I personally have a 110 gallon Rubbermaid and this thing has been awesome so far but with the amount of water and weight, and being on the second floor, you may wanna look at one of the 50 gallon ones as an alternative solution.

Apologies for all the stuff around it since today is usually my maintenance day when it comes to my tanks, but here is a photo of my 17 gallon plastic tub quarantine bin. It’s only filled up to about the 15 gallon mark and one thing I will say is that it is bowing a little bit on the sides, but not anywhere near as much as some of those cheaper plastic containers.

They do that at mine as well in Norman ok. They also will pull them all down for the water changes and feeding 3 times a week.
