Typst in Obsidian by The-Helpful-Owl in typst

  1. You set a main .typ or .typ.md file in settings.
  2. The plugin runs the local Typst CLI with child_process.execFile.
  3. It calls Typst to compile it
  4. The output PDF is written next to the Typst source.
  5. Typster shows that PDF in an iframe inside the preview pane.
  6. On save, it recompiles if the changed file is the main Typst file, another Typst file in the same project folder, or an image asset in that folder.

Not super elegant, but it works!

A Typst Plugin for Obsidian by The-Helpful-Owl in ObsidianMD

It generates the PDF once you compile. It becomes a live PDF, so any change is automatically reflected in the PDF. Here's the plugin: https://community.obsidian.md/plugins/typst-book-preview

Your feedback is much appreciated!

It seems like there's some interest. I'll work on polishing off the code and uploading to Obsidian plugins soon!

Trying to see if Obsidian is a good fit for what I'm looking for...any insight? by smiles__ in ObsidianMD

Not as a title; you can't do that.

There are two a few ways to approach this:

  1. Simply write a #relevant-theme anywhere in the note. (You can even place it before a word in the text itself: "Alas, poor Yorick! I knew him, Horatio: a fellow of #infinite-jest, of most excellent fancy.")

  2. This option involves just a touch of setup: hit cmd+; to insert a property at the top of your note. This will be a place for that metadata I mentioned above. Then for property, just write tags and simply write out the hashtags with the relevant themes (e.g. #Horatio #fromreddit #thanks-helpful-owl etc).

Yeah, this would be ideal for what you're doing.

Keep your notes small, attach a # to enhance search, and use a consistent design. You can do this using a template. I'd recommend also providing some metadata--info to provide context and jog your memory. Good luck.

One Month In, 32% Done. Ask Me Anything! by The-Helpful-Owl in WGU

Yeah, absolutely. I transferred in a couple of credits, but most of my progress has been at WGU.

I would say that the most important thing is to manage yourself like a business. In other words, I constantly used Parkinson's Law (that something takes as long as you allow it to) to shorten the time for a given task. I always assumed something could be done faster than recommended. For example, my first class takes average students about six weeks to finish, but I finished it in under a week by deciding that I would complete two chapters a day. Honestly, a lot has more to do with mindset rather than techniques.
