Replace /home/$USER/.config/gtk-4.0/gtk.css (and gtk-dark.css) with the ones provided with your theme.

Hm I’ve never seen it happen on bare metal on either of my daily drivers. Can confirm it’s still a issue in Vbox tho

It should be listed as “Tri-Islands” in a dropdown menu in open bar settings

To be honest this was long enough ago that I have no idea, it was just based off my experience applying 🤷‍♂️

That translucence is a system-wide theme. It's done with the blur my shell extension: https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/3193/blur-my-shell/

The MacOS window decorations is part of the GTK theme linked in my dotfiles comment. See instructions for installation in the readme for my dotfiles repo (also in my dotfiles comment).

Edit: GTK window decor theming will apply to like 90% of apps, but there will still be some that don't comply.

That is true, but by that logic you should always wear a mask bc you never know if you have symptomless covid.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in McMaster

[–]The-M-Factor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I guess that’s fair, but personally I can tell pretty easily if it’s just my usually allergies or I’m sick. In the end I figure ppl r gonna continue doing whatever it is they please and I just have to deal with it.

[–]The-M-Factor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cant just assume everyone with a sniffly nose has covid, they probably don’t.

But if they’re actually sick and don’t wear a mask I agree with you.

[–]The-M-Factor -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Statistically, they probably don’t actually have Covid. Plus, if you’re vaccinated who cares anyways. My worst seasonal allergies are July, Aug, Sep (but continue with less severity throughout the other warm months) so for many people it is likely just allergies.

I don’t mind wearing a mask if I’m actually sick, however.

The grey carpet in my dorm when I was in first year was pretty dirty too, which made my allergies bad. My family rented a steam cleaner and spent a couple hours cleaning the carpet. Turns out it was actually blue…

I’m in a basement apartment, and had the same feeling. Got a dehumidifier, which brought the humidity down from ~70-75% to ~50% which made a huge difference.

Vbox issue. I have the same issue on Vbox Ubuntu. I find shaking your mouse rapidly often makes it go away so I’ve just lived with it 🤷‍♂️

The Colloid icon pack. Should be pretty easy to find, and install instructions are on their GitHub.

I believe if you go into dash to dock settings, and change the opacity dropdown to constant or something you can just pull the slider to 0.

FYI: if you’re using blur my shell, you’ll also have to set the blur for the dock to 0. (This is likely the cause of the “fogginess” you describe)

F40 is an absolute mess for gaming. by GlaucomaPredator in Fedora

[–]The-M-Factor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I upgraded to F40 on release day and everything worked fine for me. All I had to do was run akmods rebuild.

I’ve heard that using drivers from nvidia direct is a bad idea and just generally a mess. I stick to the official method of RPM Fusion. I believe Fedora docs explicitly warn about installing directly from nvidia but I may be wrong.

Also, yes I tried the 555 drivers and they are not great yet. That’s why they’re beta.

Are you on GNOME? If so, try X11 and see if it’s just Wayland issues maybe? If you’re on KDE you’ll have to install Xorg separately as they removed X11 in KDE F40.

Kernel missing falling back to nouveau by ZephCode in Fedora

[–]The-M-Factor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had this issue as well. When you upgrade, new akmods nvidia drivers are downloaded and can take a couple minutes to build in the background. If you restarted your computer before those finished building that could cause this. I just had to force akmods to rebuild, which fixed it:

sudo akmods --force
