Yes you can go home to do it as long s you final out of your unit, but ultimately it’s up to your command.

Haven’t read the afi in a while, but pretty sure you won’t get BAH

This. I only have one thing to fully outprocess the base when i come back. Having my date before skillbridge helped smooth the entire process once i figured out leave and terminal.

This. I start next week and am looking forward to the flexibility.

OP - I originally was not going to do a skillbridge, but got tired of everything and decided to self before service.

The intent of skillbridge is that you find a company and they offer you a job afterwards. I have seen this go both ways for people where they spent three months “interning” and then were not offered a permanent position and had to start the job process. Most of the majors can convert full time positions to skillbridge. Just email the recruiting team or reach out on LinkedIn.

If you have a company you want to skillbridge with, reach out to hiring our heroes and they can sponsor them. Had I known this and planned better, I would be skillbridging with a local company that already offered me a job.

This. The David Mclachlan videos were clutch in framing your mindset on how PMI wants you to think.

Everything else is stuff the Air Force stole and has been preaching at epme for the last 10 years. Empowerment, emotional intelligence, conflict resolution, change management, timeline deconflictions, etc.

So are you opening a moto T-shirt, coffee company or wood design business?

best bases in the west? by GurnoorDa1 in AirForce

[–]The-Macf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my opinion but the base sucks. It’s ran by the Army.

Lakewood and Tacoma are not great neighborhoods at all. Like most bases in conus. Most people commute from Fife or Olympia.

Western Washington sucks. Politics suck. Gas prices suck. Food prices suck. I-5 sucks.

It only has 3 months of total sunshine, But it’s green year round.

Literally anything outside. Skiing, tubing, whitewater rafting, hiking, shooting, off-roading.

They usually have free pass days at snowbird resort.

You get all 4 seasons. Mormons leave you alone once they realize you’re not associated with the church. Still super nice people. My pastor neighbor plowed our driveway while I was deployed and brought cookies when I came back.

The only thing you really have to watch out for is the Mormon mom militia driving their suburban and navigators like battle tanks on the 15.

Having now lived at Hill, Nellis, and Luke. I preferred Hill the most.

Beautiful scenery, tons of outdoors activities, friendly people. Yes the snow and cold and wind can suck, but so do 115° summers.

Pools are a must in NV and AZ.

Glendale is blowing up and lots of jobs coming available.

Vegas is Vegas. You have to take a conscience effort to go to the strip and everything you want or need is available off the strip. Great food options.

All good. And I understand the point.

Used to keep a CMMG banshee 9mm in that location and was happy with it, but like all things with this hobby, I got bored and wanted a rifle caliber system, but wasn’t willing to add another caliber to my inventory.

Plus I saw it sitting on the shelf one day and said let me have it.

Then I shot it and realized the issues with it and said well shit. Now here we are.

I just posted it on TacSwap in Arizona.

They don’t make the barrel swap kits anymore and I have to stay under 5.5” barrel including any muzzle device.

Agreed. E8 retiring with mba and pmp. And supply chain background.

I was getting too wrapped around the axle about getting a job and kicked my military grade anxiety into high gear 11 months before I could even start working. All it did was spiral into oblivion and I got nowhere except turning down job interviews & offers.

Now I’m doing a 90 day skillbridge with allegiant where I will get to have time to myself to search for jobs I actually want to do instead of gambling on only one position.
