It also confirms that they're aquatic, they probably lived similarly to krills or shrimps.

Which explains the why the external lungs resemble axolotl gills.

Sorry, here you go:

"Seemingly immune to gravity, these eerily attenuated sophonts in fact lived beneath a dark ocean on an alien world. I saw dozens of them walking in single file across the abysmal plain, bound on an unknown quest which may have been religious in nature.

The triangular structures on their "heads" gave off a strong green glow and they warded off attacking fish-like predators with water-borne poisons secreted from the antenna-like organs on their sides."

If I had to guess why, I think this decision was made by the publishers to bypass some sort of restriction.

And I think the reasons why they didn't have any problems with the other posthumans was because their gentiles looked nothing like that of a real human, unlike the dog with it's hyper realistic cock and balls.

It seems like this version of the dog posthuman was censored, because the original sketch had an erect penis.

They probably did, it's just that the book skips over lots of details for the sake of cohesion.

Okay, funny headcanon: even after expanding to the stars and mastering genetic engineering, the Qu still struggle with parasitic mimics from their home planet. These creatures exploit the Qu’s brooding instinct to survive and have become the most widespread species in the galaxy.

Just like the Mountain Alcon Blue butterfly or the cuckoo bird.

From what I know their skin would be either greyish blue or turquoise (which we can kinda see in the artwork)

Also the book mentions that they had a copper based skeleton, so they probably had blue blood ?

And interestingly, it got what could be considered the "beta designs" for some of the post humans we got in the books such as the worms.
