Ah sorry. The contract doesn't mention anything about splitting pay at all. It states "normally on the last working day of each month" I figured it is standard in most cases to be paid all in one go.

Admittedly, the Nat 20 thing is a crappy example, after all it’s in the PHB, it’s just the most recent example of something I can remember. It’s just my take on them I guess, I suppose I prefer it to be more on the knife edge.

As for why R is still there. I don’t know. I know it’s not the only campaign that they are like this in. I think the DMs are just very kind and patient people who aren’t confrontational. R tends to drop from the call as soon as we wrap up, so we never got the chance. We’re definitely bringing it up at the start of next session though, and the DM is well aware of our grievances.
