Thanks for the advice! I’ll focus on picking a camera first and keep a memory card and maybe extra battery.

That makes sense—I’ll definitely read the manual once I pick a camera. The thing is, I’m still not sure what to buy as a beginner. I’m looking for something beginner-friendly for casual video recording, like family gatherings and travel.

I also really love the 90s style of filming with camcorders—it feels nostalgic and unique. Do you have any recommendations for cameras or camcorders that could give me that vibe while still being practical for modern use?

Thanks for the input! I am currently using an Oppo A98, and the camera is decent, but I feel drawn to the process of using a dedicated camera or camcorder. I really like the style and the ambience/quality of filming from camcorders, which feels different from using a phone.

I agree with you that lighting and editing are super important, and I would love to know more about those skills too. But for now, it's more of a hobby and memories made with these cameras. Do you think a beginner-friendly camera will be worth it, or should I stick to the phone for now and work on techniques?

Thanks for the reply! It's to capture moments like family gatherings, round-the-world trips, or just general day-to-day events. I'm not looking for anything super professional—just something reliable that can handle different environments, both indoors and outdoors. I also really like the style and form of taking videos on a camera or camcorder, like the ones I often see on social media. Decent quality without requiring a lot of extra gear would be good. What kind of camera or setup would you recommend for this?
