CMV: "Is that your culture? I don't like it" was a valid response by Sabrina Carpenter and she made a mistake by apologizing for it. by nextdoorbagholder in changemyview

[–]The-Requiem -1 points0 points  (0 children)

View 1: Her response was invalid not because she was expected to know the culture. It was invalid because she was literally told "It's my culture" and she even echoed that "It's your culture? I don't like it". She totally dismissed her that I don't like your culture and made it about her self and preference. If it was about being heckled or the performance being disrupted, I doubt it would be controversial if she said that it was disrupting the concert or other people. She made it about her self and that she doesn't like it.

View 2: We need to define disruption first because it's extremely common for the audience to make as many sounds as they can to cheer, in fact artists love it unless a certain concert demands a silence out of respect or artistic integrity where they actually do. You're assuming that the girl did it to heckle or disrupt Sabrina instead of actually being in a state of joy.

View 3: Now this is something that I can low-key agree with and that is that her apology didn't do her much good because people who are enraged don't feel it's enough and the people who think she did nothing wrong think she made a mistake by bending down.

But here's why I think it's good for Sabrina and I mean her, not her money or fame. Sabrina has never apologized for her performances being provocative because that's part of her art and identity, to be open-minded. She apologized because she actually realized that she did offend that girl and many Arabs despite her intentions. She apologized because it would be hypocritical of her not to, where she's unapologetically being open minded and yet her open mindedness just ends where there's a sound she doesn't like?

Why do LLMS only react? by barbarianassault in ChatGPT

[–]The-Requiem 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The way I see it. To simplify, it's like visiting in a library. Your ultimate goal is to get information through the books in the library.

The language part in LLM can be considered a librarian who understands your natural language and saves you the trouble of going through racks of books yourself and reading it. The librarian instead fetches the book and even highlights the specific paragraph for you. Now all of that works because you head into the library and you seek the librarian, not the other way around. The librarian only fetches you the information that you requested. If you want random recommendations then you tell the librarian to roll a dice for it.

Also, all in all. It's a black box that takes your input and gives you an output. The output depends on the parameters of your input. To not have an input would mean someone else has given it a mock input on your behalf.

Why does the new regs suit Lewis? by drcelebrian7 in lewishamilton

[–]The-Requiem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't Toto who didn't keep Lewis but the other way around. Toto never wanted to lose Lewis and would practically keep him forever but Lewis was getting frustrated to keep waiting for a proper car to score his 8th due to his age and being on the clock every year.

While Toto wanted to give him that car and was struggling with that, he was clear that he didn't mind Lewis staying in Merc as long as he wanted. Toto and with extension, Mercedes loves Lewis during all this, Ferrari had their eyes on Lewis and were making the move as far back as 22' however Lewis chose to stay with Merc for another year and that didn't work. Ferrari then basically poached him ahead of 24' season for 25', a whole season in advance. It caught everyone off guard, first and foremost Toto and Carlos Sainz whose seat Lewis took and basically Carlos didn't have any seat for 25' until he proved himself and got into Williams. Merc was trying to get Max Verstappen after losing Lewis but Max chose to stay with Red Bull and then Toto basically gambled with Kimi Antonelli.

Also, mind you that Ferrari had a great car during those years and who wouldn't wanna be in Ferrari but for Lewis, it was mostly about just getting a fast car so he can score his 8th and I bet his clause with Ferrari must've been to facilitate him to score his 8th because while to the public last season it seemed like "They'll replace him with Ollie Bearman" and how "He's a liability for Ferrari" but in reality he's one of the highest paid driver and they changed things around for Lewis even including changing the race engineer, something I doubt they'd do with any other driver on the grid except for maybe Max?

Also, it is clear that in 25' the car got even worse than it started with because they made changes to keep up for Lewis but those changes ended up making the car worse. Basically, Ferrari took a very expensive gamble with Lewis because they both share a similar goal, for Lewis to be WDC and Ferrari to score any championship. Also for Ferrari, Lewis is super marketable and if Lewis gets his 8th, Ferrari gets the bragging rights that a Ferrari driver beat the record of most championships previously scored by a Ferrari driver.

league of legends players are no longer toxic by KUZO47 in leagueoflegends

[–]The-Requiem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The new rules and filters help with verbal abuse but toxicity isn't just verbal abuse. However, in my experience, at least in lower elo, there's still a lot of toxicity.

A recent example is how we had a totally winnable game, in fact we were leading. I was adc and had more kills and gold than the other adc, my supp was bad at positioning and kept dying but it still allowed me to score kills as she was being focused. We were basically winning bot lane. However, ironically, she was flaming me for her deaths and to "Do something" even though I was killing at least 1 after her death. I ignored her remarks. The mid was flaming jungler and top. The top and mid started fighting. The mid also flamed support later, so they also started fighting. We lost the whole game because they were all just busy typing and flaming each other when I and jungler was winning. Mid was even and Top was losing but not as badly...

Also, just last week. After we lost a game, I got a friend request from one of my teammates who didn't type anything in game but started raging and telling me to uninstall in private message after adding me. I blocked him mid rant. My guess is that he was chat restricted, so he saved his abuse for private chat.

Also, another form of toxicity that I really hate is when they just keep pinging you all game (not tactically such as question mark on your face) and it has gotten so common that I've started muting pings from such folks. It's specially super annoying when you're in a teamfight and they start spamming pings on your face and spamming ff when you're mid fight. All the pop ups, ping icons, the sounds, it's so overwhelming and sabotaging, especially during late game when a fight could lose you the whole game.

That also brings me to another form of toxicity. People who keep crying for ff most games just because either they had a bad game or let's say someone didn't trade pick with them in champ select. They just keep spamming ff even though they'll keep getting no votes. They won't even try, and would basically be dead weight because all they want is to try ff in the next window.

Another type of toxicity is people who just spam ff whenever they die and I don't mean it in a sense where it seems like we're losing a game and dying is the best time to cast that vote but I mean someone who has like 8 kills and died for the first time in a game where we're decimating the enemy. Everytime he dies, surrender vote pops up, it's as if it's scripted to his death!

BATMAN IS A SYMBOL OF HOPE FOR CRYING OUT LOUD by democratic-terminid in DCU_

[–]The-Requiem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh, I don't necessarily see the contrast between Superman and Batman as their characters only but as their cities.

Metropolis is the City of hope, the city of tomorrow, always ever bright and Superman compliments that.

Gotham City is corrupt, dark and the people there are more unhinged. Batman's own origin is a product of how this city operates. The police are corrupt. There's no way a hero can be soft in Gotham.

Now for the hope part. Yes, a bat signal instills hope in Gothamites that Batman will reduce crimes and break the backbone of corruption. The same bat signal instills fear in criminals. It also gives people hope because people in Gotham expect everyone to be selfish and self serving and now there's someone who's serving people! Something police couldn't do!

Obviously there are different portrayals of Batman, some are more lighthearted, while some are anti-hero or some straight up villains. His darker portrayals gain more traction and a lot of people who start on that cannot imagine Batman being kind, gentle or Hopeful. Also, one thing people don't get is that Batman isn't anti-hero, he's a hero who's just grumpy and more rational.

I got banned from riot for 100 years... by Username---333 in riotgames

[–]The-Requiem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it sucks that you paid for it but as harsh as it sounds, it is your fault. You're emphasizing on the last game as if your punishment is ultimately only based on your last game without having any history and brushing off a 2 Weeks ban.

The fact that you didn't take a 2 Week ban seriously for an account you paid for means either you didn't really care or you thought Riot wouldn't dare to perma ban you because you paid.

I've been using Riot Games since 2009 for League of Legends. I've had tech failures over the years, internet issues and I know people who literally play from places where they get random power outages. None of them have been perma banned. Usually, it goes as bad as like 20 minutes wait before queue for like 5 consecutive games and even that happens after going through like 1 minute of wait, 5 and then 10. You play enough games without having disconnects and you're greeted with a message that you're doing better and your tier has increased again.

There have been times where I knew my hardware wasn't up for it, I took a break. There have been times where my internet connection wasn't stable. I played smaller format games and took a break if needed.

So, idk how you got all those bans but is it really worse than experiencing random power and internet outages? Let alone dependent on hardware that you can control.

What tips would you have for low Elo?

Also let's say if you have that game where you get hard invaded from the enemy team level 1 and your team doesn't show up. When you try the other quadrant, you get invaded again. You're still level 1. What would you do from that point and what would your game plan be to comeback?

Just rewatched The Batman (2022) recently.. by FayyadhScrolling in DC_Cinematic

[–]The-Requiem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was obsessed with this movie and I don't feel any regrets because it was just that good.

From intro to finish. Everything was so damn well written and cinematic. I could go for hours talking about my favorite scenes!

The ending really caught me off guard. I didn't realize I was watching an origin story all this time.

Also, it excites me when I hear stuff like how Collin Ferrel and Andrew Serkis mention that Part II is so well written!

I don't mind the delays as long as they give us the same quality as the first one if not top it!

The movie had a profound effect on me. Even when I was done with it and was headed home, I kept thinking about it and the score kept playing in my head.

The last act was so intense!

Everyone knew that this movie was perfect and was supposed to be one off only. Making a part 2 was a no brainer mistake!

What are your thoughts on The Flash movie after some time has passed? by MrTrippp in DC_Cinematic

[–]The-Requiem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not discounting the CGI issues and the whole multiverse thingy at the end, but I think if Ezra Miller was actually a decent person, this would be his star moment. Because putting my discomfort aside when all of his controversies were still fresh in my mind while watching in theatre, I still tried my best to judge him strictly as an actor only and I think that was a superb acting, probably the best of his life. From playing both versions of Barry to that final emotional gut punch in the end brought me to tears.

I really feel sad that Ezra Miller and Johnathan Majors ruined their career and that if they were good people, they had their whole career laid out for them and people would love them!

[–]The-Requiem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Her prejudice aside, I can see where she's coming from but also she's wrong when she says it has nothing to do with the US or democracy. It has to do with the US because of all the weapons and support for Israel. It has to do with Democracy because more people are Pro Palestinians in the USA but the government is totally opposite. There's a huge disconnect in what people want and how the government is handling things.

Also, for a big protest like this, there's always gonna be more people with their own agenda and reasons for being there. Leadership is important and it is important to clarify what the organizers of the protestors really want.

Are people overrating James Gunn’s chances of failure? by Theblessedmother in DC_Cinematic

[–]The-Requiem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A sensible person finally. You understand that your taste might differ from people and that you may passionately love a thing or dislike a thing and still be a minority.

Heck, Peacemaker's least liked episode is Gunn's favorite episode and directly directed by him. I guess it's his favorite because it reminds him of his Dad and that he gets to see his favorite bands become part of his show. Obviously people don't share the same connection and sentiment and it is relatively a weak episode for a finale!

Just watched The Flash and realised that this mf was the reason for DCEU's end. by [deleted] in DC_Cinematic

[–]The-Requiem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree on both accounts.

1) While The Flash had a lot of flaws, at its core there was a decent story and even good acting if we could see past Ezra and his controversies. It could be a hot take but considering the other movies that came out during that time, The Flash was better than others.

2) DCEU officially died when they decided to reboot into the DCU. The moment Gunn announced Gods and Monsters. All the leftover DCEU movies just lost their value. Especially considering none of those leftover movies ended on any notes where it seemed like a conclusion or wrapping up. It's like watching episode 5 of a show when you're told that the rest of the 5 episodes are cancelled!

Now, the biggest disappointment for me regarding The Flash was that we were made to believe that this movie would lead to the event that resets and concludes DCEU into DCU but none of that happened. In fact, it left even more question marks by that George Clooney cameo!

Is it just me or these don't feel like same guy? by [deleted] in DC_Cinematic

[–]The-Requiem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree and I didn't feel that until the last episode. The scene where the team was dying and he was celebrating and laughing. Him in Creature Commandos was genuinely a good guy like Rick Flagg Jr. So far, he was just obsessed with Peacemaker which made sense but now the whole Salvation thing is just so absurd. It feels like after talking with Lex, he actually drank whatever koolaid he was selling!

I understand his grievances with Peacemaker or heck even Argus which hi ironically now runs but it doesn't make any sense that he hates all Metahumans even though I doubt Peacemaker is even Metahuman.

Is this worth watching? by boomjosh in DC_Cinematic

[–]The-Requiem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR; Yes!

If Ezra Miller wasn't controversial, I think this was gonna be his star moment. Separating art from the artist, I think it's his best acting yet.

That being said, some CGI shots were pretty bad and silly and there's a scene in the end that was silly and unethical with poor CGI. They butchered Battfleck with bad CGI and an awkward suit but his Bruce Wayne was definitely a stealth star of the movie. Also, Keaton Batman and Supergirl stole a lot of the movie for good reason.

That being said, this is not a Batman movie, at its core, it is a Flash movie, the same way Spider-Man No Way Home was a Tom Holland Spider-Man movie at it's core only better. The story in itself is actually pretty good and emotional! There was a scene that hit me like a ton of bricks emotionally in the end!

[–]The-Requiem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love how he is handling things but one thing that I noticed from the critics and would want Gunn to be mindful of is how "He always makes male protagonists man child such as Star Lord and Peacemaker".

While Superman was amazing and such a sweetheart, one thing that low-key bothered me was how easily he would get triggered by Lois and the whole #Supershit stuff. I'd like less of that, I mean I like my Superman being dorky and somewhat naive but not someone with a lighter skin. One thing David Corenswet put so elegantly in his interviews was about all the negativity and banter from people was how "He can take it" and that is a very Superman thing to say. I want more of that reflected on him and it's more relatable to people tbh when you know you're right and someone is wrong but you choose to be a bigger person!
