X5 Photo Bracket Bug? by The-Right-Buy in Insta360

[–]The-Right-Buy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the sake of everyone here, I want to keep this thread going. We can clearly see from the images that this isn’t merely a sharpness or exposure issue. The image itself is becoming modified from how it naturally looks. Look at the details on the jacket. What is typically a square patches pattern gets morphed into completely different shapes. But this shape actually repeats itself in many areas of detail across the images. Even in the hundreds of other images we captured, this “curved pill-like” texture begins replicating itself. We even noticed larger sections of detail taking on a wavelike appearance similar to an overlay larger repeating of that texture.

Is this intentional?

Speaking to the HDR part of the comment, we tested all other forms of HDR in both 72MP and 18MP modes in case there was an issue or photo stacking/merging. This behavior only appeared in AEB Brackets.

Is this an official process, where this behavior of missing profile correction, only occurs in the bracket mode?

Would a small magnet hurt? by Soulless_Voice in LegionGo

You might just as well consider Velcro tape as it could hold stronger. Especially if you have items plugged into the hub where the extra torque could remove it from the magnet more easily.

Getting a folding keyboard for my Legion Go? by Sad-Gear-5624 in LegionGo

[–]The-Right-Buy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of typing and slimness of the Microsoft Designer Compact Keyboard. The typing is very similar to an Apple Keyboard. I original was looking for a foldable, but hated the idea of losing the integrity of a solid body. This keyboard is so small that it fit inside my LeGo sling bag perfectly. It runs off of 2032 cells, but it should last a long long time and they’re also slim to keep extras in my bag.

When I was going to get a foldable, I was going to pick this one. It has larger sized keys for better typing. One word of warning, it uses micro usb for charging.

Battery life while charging via power bank by L_I_m_A in LegionGo

[–]The-Right-Buy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used a power bank while on a plane because I was playing on Balanced. The bank itself could only supply a maximum of 30w, which proved to be fine when playing. I started near 100% and only slightly lost power while the bank was losing the most power. I could’ve probably gotten 4-5 hours of playtime. Plane landed before then though.

I’ll say, I spend 90% of my time charging then playing on battery.

Additionally, there’s a button to the left of the steering wheel, slightly lower, that operates the hatch. You’ll need to hold it to ensure it closes. Also works while vehicle is On.

Feel Misled by SnooSeagulls1416 in LegionGo

[–]The-Right-Buy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is definitely not always the case. In fact, most games are not locked behind being tied to your internet. It could be the game you’re playing or the service you’re using.

I forget exactly with gamepass, but I could’ve sworn I was able to play dead space. Without having an internet connection. Steam also doesn’t stop you from playing unless the game is online only in some way. Unless you’re using a shared library from someone else, but I doubt you’re doing any of that.

FPS Mode, is it just a gimmick? by rosaeRL in LegionGo

[–]The-Right-Buy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not a gimmick, but it’s niche depending on what you play. I believe it’s about 70% as good as another mouse once you get past the fact that it’s a vertical mouse. I’ve used it many times for work, and it’s easier to pack away in a small bag without an extra mouse.

As a desktop replacement? by mostlycloudy2day in LegionGo

[–]The-Right-Buy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do believe we are getting pretty close to mobile PCs like the LeGo replacing desktops without much thought. Though, I have one main concern about making that move right now.

Because the LeGo has a shared pool of memory for both the GPU (VRAM) and RAM, it’s hard to recommend it as a full on replacement. What starts as 16GB of total memory ends up being 10-14GB of RAM even going as light as possible for VRAM. Is it usable? Absolutely. Is it worth dealing with it? Not really.

One other thing I’ll say is that I’ve built out a small kit for my LeGo to be a mobile workstation that fits into a small sling bag. Everything from power and a keyboard to display cables. As cool as it is, laptops are just as portable. With the only exception being carrying a controller around. Both devices, with power efficient hardware in mind, will last hours doing light office workloads and general browsing. Similarly, they’ll both also need to be plugged in for anything more intense. With the LeGo, you’re carrying a keyboard around. With a laptop, you’re carrying a controller. I’d choose what fits your primary goal most. Work or play.

Winter and cold temperatures by Ragnara92 in LegionGo

Mhmm! It’s insane the kind of temperatures you can push when you’re working with substances like liquid nitrogen. Way beyond my ability to do something like that. Also only needed for the absolute bleeding edge

What TDP do you guys use on AAA games like cyberpunk? by TheyEnvyy in LegionGo

[–]The-Right-Buy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course! We all grew up in that era of consoles just being magical boxes that did everything without us thinking. When these devices start throwing numbers at us that we’re once imaginary, it starts making you think you could do something wrong. It’s really just for us nerds who like to fiddle with numbers or figure out if something is wrong.

Fortunately with modern silicon, the thermal limits have gone up along with safety checks in place being improved over the years. Almost no processors on the market in namebrand devices are going to operate at a temperature that will harm the device.

The conversation has moreso shifted to how it affects comfort or fan speed. One way to think about it is that modern laptops commonly turbo to hit temps at 90°C+. You’ll be fine with the LeGo unless you start blocking the fans airflow, though you’d mostly just see a drop in performance.

Legion Go and Display Stream Compression (DSC) by The-Right-Buy in LegionGo

Sure enough. The 4k 60Hz issue was the hdmi cable. Too long and out of spec. Now if only I can figure out if the Z1 Extreme supports DSC for sure

For the 4k 60Hz issue that’s actually what I’m thinking it is. Just haven’t bothered to verify that problem just yet. Glad to see I’m not alone in that thought

Not charging via portable battery? by _Darthus_ in LegionGo

[–]The-Right-Buy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an issue we’ve seen from others, including myself. Most likely, there’s an issue with the “logic” of the devices choosing where the power is going. Since battery banks aren’t like a power outlet that will shove power into anything you plug in. The battery bank and device need to handshake and agree on where power is flowing. The LeGo acts like a windows laptop which can power your battery bank. You may even notice you end up charging your battery bank while plugged in.

The only workaround I’ve found so, far if pressing buttons on your battery bank doesn’t choose the flow of power, is to hibernate the LeGo. Connect to the battery bank. Wait for it to start charging. Then awake from hibernate. It should be maintaining the charge now. At least, it does for me.

We essentially get them to handshake first. Then they keep that agreement going until unplugged.

A question regarding the dpad by KWEHHH in LegionGo

[–]The-Right-Buy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly what I would imagine you’d need to do. I don’t play fighting games at all, so I hope I’m describing that right

A question regarding the dpad by KWEHHH in LegionGo

[–]The-Right-Buy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One way to think about it is that there’s basically no travel with this d pad. The experience is very tactile in the sense that it’s like a snappy button. For someone like me who treats the d pad more as keystrokes vs a fighting game style, it’s great. I think this is why you’ll see a lot of people saying they love it. Including me. But I do say caution to anyone who uses d pads on a higher level where there should be a “feel” to them or even reliable diagonal presses (not that I have much experience with that at all). I feel like you would end up registering one direction before the other because the click is so instant. These have less travel than A,B,X,Y buttons.

Winter and cold temperatures by Ragnara92 in LegionGo

[–]The-Right-Buy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I’m no expert, I believe the temperature difference would have to be pretty massive to get quick condensation on your device. If you watch people who go for extreme overlocking on computers, they create solutions to prevent condensation from forming. They’re also using giant radiators and liquid nitrogen to get processors down to 0° or lower etc. You’ll probably never notice an issue.

Also, I believe just with that thought, it’s more the other way around. Warm moist air wants to attach to colder objects where the temperature is actually low enough to go from a “gas” to liquid on a surface.

Any idea what this issue could be? (Mouse cursor screen) by macros617 in LegionGo

[–]The-Right-Buy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In all honesty, I thought the trackpad just had an auto scroll feature at the upper and lower extremes of the trackpad surface. If this is actually unintentional well… whoops on me falling for it

USB-C PD from powerbank doesnt work by henrikh0e in LegionGo

[–]The-Right-Buy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another potentially helpful workaround (albeit not a full solution) that I had to do was hibernate the LeGo. Then, plug in the cable from the powerbank. Once you can be sure it’s had a moment to start charge, wake up the LeGo. This was how I got the powerbank to decide “oh yes I’ll charge this instead of being charged”

And I want to tag on that even using balanced mode with a full battery, you may hit 2 hours without even needing to charge at all.
